Please read Pastor Ricky's check list below and prepare today for the Winter Storm:

1. Heat & Warmth (Critical)
• Alternate heat source
• Gas fireplace, propane heater (indoor-safe only), wood stove
• Fuel supply
• Propane tanks / firewood (dry, accessible)
• Warm bedding
• Extra blankets, sleeping bags, thermal sheets
• Cold-weather clothing
• Hats, gloves, wool socks, base layers
• Draft control
• Towels or draft blockers for doors and windows

Safety note: Never use grills, camp stoves, or generators indoors.



2. Power & Lighting
• Flashlights (one per person minimum)
• Headlamps (hands-free work)
• Extra batteries (AA, AAA, D)
• Battery lanterns or LED camping lanterns
• Solar or hand-crank charger
• Fully charged power banks
• Car charger for phones



3. Food & Water (No Power)

Water
• 1 gallon per person per day (minimum)
• Extra for pets
• Bottled water or filled containers

Food (No Cooking or Minimal Cooking)
• Canned soups, meats, beans
• Peanut butter, protein bars
• Crackers, nuts, trail mix
• Shelf-stable milk
• Bread, tortillas
• Ready-to-eat meals (MREs)

Food Prep
• Manual can opener
• Paper plates, cups, utensils
• Trash bags



4. Cooking (If Safe to Do So)
• Outdoor grill or camp stove (OUTDOORS ONLY)
• Propane or charcoal
• Matches or lighter
• Cast iron or simple cookware



5. Medical & Health
• Prescription medications (3–5 day supply)
• First aid kit
• Pain relievers, cold/flu meds
• Hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes
• Thermometer
• Backup medical devices batteries (CPAP, etc.)



6. Communication & Information
• Battery-powered or hand-crank radio
• Charged cell phones
• Emergency contact list (written)
• Local emergency numbers printed



7. Home & Property Protection
• Ice melt or salt
• Snow shovel / ice scraper
• Generator (if owned)
• Outdoor-rated extension cords
• Fuel stored safely
• Surge protectors (unplug electronics)



8. Vehicle Readiness
• Full tank of gas
• Ice scraper & snow brush
• Blanket in car
• Jumper cables
• Emergency roadside kit



9. Pets & Livestock
• Extra pet food (3–5 days)
• Water bowls that won’t freeze
• Medications
• Blankets or bedding
• Leashes and carriers accessible



10. Comfort & Morale (Often Overlooked)
• Board games, cards, books
• Battery candles
• Coffee/tea (instant)
• Journal or notepad
• Bible or devotional material



11. Before the Storm Hits
• Charge everything
• Do laundry
• Cook perishables
• Set fridge/freezer to coldest setting
• Let faucets drip slightly to prevent frozen pipes
