📌 THE CHOIR IS NOT THE MAIN CHARACTER AT MASS — AND THIS MAY OFFEND SOME PEOPLE

Here is the question nobody wants to ask: what exactly are we going to Mass for?

Some people will disagree with this, but the choir is not the main character at Holy Mass.

The choir has a beautiful and important ministry. Sacred music can lift the heart, help the congregation pray, and beautifully support the liturgy. But the choir is not there to turn Mass into a concert or to make the congregation spectators.

The centre of the Holy Mass is Christ.

At Mass, we gather around the Eucharistic celebration — the proclamation of the Word of God and the offering of Christ, made sacramentally present to us in the Holy Eucharist.

So if the choir sings beautifully but the congregation becomes more interested in the performance than in worship, something has gone wrong.

And here is the controversial question:

Should a choir ever receive applause during Mass for a beautiful performance?🤔

The Church's liturgy is not a talent show. The music should serve the sacred mysteries, not compete with them.

The choir should lead us into prayer, not into performance.

Curious to hear what you think: Is your parish choir helping you pray, or sometimes making you feel like you are attending a concert?

What do you think??

Segment 2: Join the Worldwide Rosary for Peace

Pope Leo has invited Catholics to pray the Rosary every day for world peace. True peace is possible, and it begins when we pray together. Fr. Fred Jenga is helping to organize a worldwide rosary for peace on October 22. He joins us with more.

What Happens in Heaven When You Pray the Rosary ✝️🙏👇

You may think you’re just holding beads and repeating prayers. But Heaven is not ignoring a single Hail Mary.

The Rosary may look simple from the outside. Yet Scripture, the saints, and centuries of Catholic tradition point to something much deeper happening every time you pray it.

1. Your Rosary Rises Before God

When you pray the Rosary, your prayers rise before the throne of God.

Revelation 5:8 gives us this beautiful image:
→ “The four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each had a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.”

Your prayers are pictured like incense rising before God. Every Hail Mary, every Our Father, and even the Rosaries prayed while tired or distracted are known by Him. No sincere prayer is wasted.

2. Mary Receives Each Prayer Like a Rose

The word Rosary comes from rosarium, meaning a garden or crown of roses. Catholic tradition has often compared each Hail Mary to a spiritual rose offered to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

St. Louis de Montfort wrote:
→ “When you say your Rosary, the angels and saints join with you in it and unite their prayers to yours.”

Mary receives our prayers as a loving mother and always leads us toward her Son. What may seem small to us can become something beautiful when offered to God.

3. Angels and Saints Join the Prayer

When you pray the Rosary, you are never truly praying alone.

The Communion of Saints surrounds the Church. In every Hail Mary, we repeat the greeting first spoken by the angel Gabriel:
→ “Hail, full of grace” (Luke 1:28).

Many saints deeply loved the Rosary, including St. John Paul II, St. Padre Pio, and St. Louis de Montfort. When you take up your beads, you join generations of Catholics who prayed those same words before you.

4. The Mysteries Draw You Into Christ’s Life

The Rosary is much more than repeating prayers. It is a meditation on the life of Jesus.
The Annunciation. The Nativity. The Crucifixion. The Resurrection.
Each mystery leads us deeper into the Gospel and helps us look at Jesus through the eyes of faith.

The Catechism says:
→ “Contemplation is a gaze of faith, fixed on Jesus. ‘I look at Him and He looks at me.’” (CCC 2715).

As you meditate on the mysteries, your heart is being drawn closer to Christ.

5. Graces Flow Back to Earth

Throughout Catholic history, the Rosary has been connected with conversion, protection, and peace.

Our Lady of Fatima repeatedly told the children:
→ “Pray the Rosary every day for peace in the world.”

We may not always see what our prayers accomplish. But grace often works quietly.

A hardened heart may soften. Someone far from God may return. Strength may reach a suffering soul. Your Rosary could be helping someone you may never meet until eternity.

6. Even a Distracted Rosary Matters

Many people feel discouraged because they struggle to focus while praying. Their mind wanders. They lose their place. They become tired. But God sees the heart that keeps returning to Him.

St. Louis de Montfort once said:
→ “A single Hail Mary, said well, shakes all of hell.”

A Rosary does not have to feel perfect to be offered with faith and love.

🙏 Final Reflection 👇

When you pray the Rosary, more may be happening than your eyes can see.

Your prayer rises before God. Mary leads you toward Jesus. You pray within the Communion of Saints. The mysteries draw your heart into the life of Christ. And God can use your prayers to pour grace into places you may never see.

That is why so many saints held tightly to the Rosary in difficult times.

St. Padre Pio once said:
→ “The Rosary is the weapon for these times.”

💬 What is one prayer you believe God answered through the Rosary?

In the Catholic Church, Holy Communion is first and foremost the Real Presence of Jesus Christ — the “medicine of immortality” as St. Ignatius of Antioch described it nearly 2,000 years ago.

It unites us to Christ, forgives venial sins, and nourishes the soul with divine life.

Yet modern science is also revealing measurable benefits that align with regular participation in the Eucharist during Mass. Large-scale studies from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and other major research institutions have found strong correlations between frequent religious service attendance (which includes receiving Holy Communion) and improved health outcomes.

Key scientific findings include:

⬩ People who attend religious services at least once a week have a 26–33% lower risk of all-cause mortality compared to those who never attend.

⬩ Weekly attendance is linked to significantly lower rates of depression, anxiety, and su***de, along with greater life satisfaction, purpose, and social connection.

⬩ Regular participation is associated with healthier behaviors (lower smoking and heavy drinking) and better overall psychosocial well-being.

While these studies examine religious attendance in general, the heart of Catholic worship — the sacred encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist — provides a unique source of peace, hope, and inner strength that many faithful experience as tangible renewal in body and mind.

The grace of the sacrament works on a supernatural level, yet its fruits often manifest in calmer hearts, renewed energy, and resilience amid life’s trials. As Pope Francis reminds us, the Eucharist is “medicine for the sick,” not a prize for the perfect.

Receiving Jesus worthily in Holy Communion is not merely a ritual — it is an encounter that science increasingly shows can support longer, healthier, and more meaningful lives.

Have you noticed any changes in your peace, energy, or outlook after regular reception of Holy Communion? What has your experience been? Share respectfully below — your story may encourage others! 👇

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A DEACON?

Do you have a deacon in your parish and wonder what his role is in the Church?

The word deacon comes from the Greek diakonos, meaning servant.

And service is at the heart of the diaconate.

A deacon is ordained to serve the People of God and to assist the bishop and priests in the Church's ministry.

At Mass, a deacon may:

• Proclaim the Gospel
• Preach the homily
• Assist the priest at the altar
• Lead the prayers of the faithful
• Prepare the altar and assist in distributing Holy Communion

Outside of Mass, a deacon may:

• Baptize
• Witness and bless marriages in the name of the Church when properly delegated
• Preside at funeral rites outside of Mass
• Lead various prayers and devotions
• Serve the Church through works of charity and pastoral ministry

There are two kinds of deacons:

A TRANSITIONAL DEACON is a man preparing for ordination to the priesthood. He normally remains a deacon only for a period before becoming a priest.

A PERMANENT DEACON is ordained to remain a deacon for life. He may be unmarried or, in many cases, married before ordination.

The deacon reminds the whole Church of something essential:

To serve Christ is to serve His people.

Jesus Himself said:

«“Whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant.”
— Matthew 20:26»

The diaconate is not simply about performing certain duties.

It is a sacramental ministry of service—to the Word, the altar, and the people of God. ✝️
