“Judge not…” But what did Jesus really mean? 🤔

This Sunday, we explored Matthew 7:1–5 and the difference between wise discernment and a judgmental spirit.

IMPORTANT NOTE❗
Jesus isn’t telling us to ignore sin or abandon discernment! He’s reminding us to examine our own hearts before pointing out the faults of others.

Why? Because it’s easy to hold a magnifying glass to someone else’s sin while overlooking our own. 🔥

So before we go on pointing our fingers at others, we need to FIRST stop and look in the mirror! Because as we allow God to deal with our own sin and struggles first, THEN we are better equipped to help our brothers and sisters in Christ with humility, love, and the right spirit.

We are to judge.
But not be judgmental.

So today, let’s be people who:
🙏 Walk in humility.
❤️ Speak the truth in love.
✝️ Extend the grace we’ve received.

I know I should pray, but I don’t really know how. 🤷‍♂️

Have you ever felt that way? If so, you’re not alone. The disciples came to Jesus and said, "Lord, teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1)

So here’s a simple way to structure your prayer time and learn to pray biblical, God-centered prayers:

WORD WEDNESDAY 📖

Did you know that even when we sin (miss the mark in life), God still pursues us?

In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve sinned and hid from God. But God came looking for them and asked, “Where are you?”

In Genesis 4, after Cain murdered Abel, God came to Cain and asked, Where is your brother Abel?”

Your sin may cause you to hide from God, but it doesn’t make God stop pursuing you.

So when you sin (and trust me, you will), don’t run from God. Run to Him.

He is pursuing you. ❤️

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:8–9
