Mt. Home Community Church in Johnson County, Arkansas, is prayerfully seeking a pastor-shepherd-teacher-leader called by God. Mt. Home is a multi-generational congregation worshiping together as an interdenominational family.
Mt. Home is not affiliated with any denominational association and is locally governed by the pastor, boards of deacons and directors, and the congregation. Currently, attendance for Sunday services is 30-40, and on Wednesday, 40-45.
Congregation members are actively involved in missions and community outreach. There is a growing youth group, adult Bible study, and Sunday school ministries. Mt. Home is financially stable, operates debt-free, and is blessed with excellent facilities.
The position is currently open to bi-vocational applicants, with a goal of full-time compensation with additional growth. Applicants should be mature in their faith and spiritual life, exhibit positive leadership traits, with ability to motivate the congregation. Candidates should be able to work cooperatively with the congregation and volunteer staff, promote unity in the church and community, provide appropriate pastoral counseling when necessary. The pastor will deliver a sermon for Sunday morning service and oversee and advise other church ministeries. Ministerial degrees are not required but a willingness to continue education and training are desirable. Compensation is negotiable.
The congregation prefers to meet with and hear candidates on several occasions to clearly understand God's will for the church. Mt. Home encourages potential applicants who want to minister in a beautiful rural area of the Arkansas River Valley to contact the pastoral search committee for more information at: mthomechurchlamarar@gmailcom
Mt. Home's Statement of Faith:
We are a congregation of faith and have accepted and adopted the following statement of Christian beliefs.
We believe:
· In one God, the Creator of all, who exists as a triune being, consisting of God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.
· In the divinity of Christ, and that through His death and resurrection we may attain eternal life, through the imputation of Christ’s holiness.
· That we are justified by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
· That God desires the salvation of all and that every individual may choose to accept or reject the gift of grace.
· That baptism is a symbol of regeneration and new birth, signifying the work of Christ in a person’s heart and a profession of faith by believers.
· That all believers have the assurance of eternal salvation through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
· The Bible is inspired by God, but transcribed by man, and that God’s word and original intent is without error. We accept God's Word as our rule of faith and conduct.
· In Christian fellowship, edification, evangelism, and missions.
· That each church is part of the body of Christ, instructed to assemble for worship, fellowship, counsel, provide instruction in the Word and God, and to fulfill the Great Commission.
