On Sunday, April 21, the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Lakewood served as the setting for a "Celebration of a Life Well Lived" for Ronald (Ron) L. Hendry. Starting in our sanctuary, a program featured singing and sharing of memories about Ron. Following the celebration of Ron's vibrant life, Hendry family, friends, and colleagues gathered for reception in our Sunday School room where we now hold services. Ron's family decorated the room with photos of Ron, plus his professional awards and honors. They also provideda delicious spread of food and beverages. Our members extend our love and gratitude to the Hendry family for hosting the celebration at our church; Ron was a long-time member and benefactor of our branch Christian Science church and shared his faith and love of Christian Science throughout the community. The attached photos are of the program and of the reception where we gathered to celebrate Ron.

"Devine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." Including a new home for an old piano. That's what happened to our old Sunday School piano that was unused for many years until it was given to one of our substitute soloists, Ashley, so she could play at her home in Tacoma. Come this past Christmas, she couldn't resist the offer of her own church to take their surplus 1879 Steinway upright piano and move it to her house (see pictures). But what to do with her piano from our Lakewood Christian Science church that she loved playing at home since year 2020? This week it found its new happy home with a fellow member of her church congregation. See the post and video below.

Mary, thank you so much for keeping our church sparking clean all year-round.

What a treat at today's (10/16/23) church service to greet and welcome back visitor Jonathon Lipko, a former pupil of our Sunday School, (now where our services are held). Jonathon is the son of Sandy Lipko, a long-time and beloved Lakewood church member. A lifetime Boeing employee, Jonathon is now based in Wichita and in town this weekend visiting family and friends. Thank you Jonathon for your visit and stop-in again next time you're in the area, Seahawks game or not!
