June 3-11
Join us in praying Novena to the Sacred Heart with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and Archbishop José H. Gomez as our country consecrated to the Sacred Heart.
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As our nation marks the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the bishops of the United States will consecrate our country to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on
June 11, 2026. In communion with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, every parish, school, apostolate, and Catholic community throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles
is invited to participate in this historic moment of prayer and renewal.
The devotion to the Sacred Heart reminds us of the boundless love and mercy of Christ poured out for the salvation of the world. In consecrating our nation to the Sacred Heart, the bishops seek to renew our reliance upon God, entrust our country to the loving care of Christ, and call the faithful to deeper conversion, reparation, charity, and missionary discipleship.
The USCCB has encouraged parishes across the country to join in this consecration through localliturgical celebrations, Eucharistic adoration, devotional prayer, catechesis, and acts of mercy. Resources have been prepared to assist parishes in celebrating the consecration either within Mass or in a Liturgy of the Word.
Accordingly, we ask every parish in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to consider the following:
• Celebrate the Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on or near June 11, 2026, using the liturgical resources provided by the USCCB.
• Invite parishioners to participate in the national Novena to the Sacred Heart from June 3–11.
• Encourage Eucharistic adoration, especially as part of the nationwide “250 Hours of Adoration” initiative.
• Promote devotion to the Sacred Heart in homes and families, including the enthronement of the Sacred Heart in the home.
• Include intentions for our nation, civic leaders, peace, justice, and the renewal of faith in the
Prayer of the Faithful.
• Publicize parish observances through bulletins, websites, social media, and announcements
so that the faithful may participate fully in this sacred occasion.
• In solidarity with the bishops in Orlando, we ask the parishes to ring their church bells on Thursday, June 11, at 3:00 PM Pacific Time, Hour of Divine Mercy.
• The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels will be celebrating the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart on Friday, June 12, at 12:10 PM. The faithful are invited to participate.
