Tonight is the first event of our very special weekend with Brother Prafullananda and Br. Bhaskarananda. This evening at our chapel, Br. Bhaskarananda will lead our kirtan group as we sing devotional chants and bhajans from our hearts. The inspiring service will be followed by a reception. All are welcome!

As you undoubtedly know, Master visited Pikes Peak during his first trip to Colorado in 1924. It was on his drive up the mountain that he composed his poem Pikes Peak beginning “Ne’er did I expect to roam, On wheels four, Where thousand clouds do soar...” Pictured here is Master and his entourage in his Maxwell car on their way down the iconic mountain.

This was part of a lecture tour that he conducted in eight major U.S. cities including New York. The picture below shows Brother Anandamoy teaching the Hong-Sau concentration technique in one of the classes. The Denver Meditation Group has hosted what we today call a Center Tour many times. The first event likely was held in 1939 and was led by Sri Ranendra Kumar Das, who was a traveling lecturer for Master in the 1930s and 1940s. An August 1939 “News of the Centers” article in the Inner Culture Magazine stated, “Sri Ranendra Kumar Das, traveling lecturer for the SRF, whose inspiring work is bringing thousands to a new understanding of life, is giving classes in Denver at present.”
