Lakewood Lutheran Church & School

Lakewood Lutheran Church & School Lakewood Lutheran Church was est. in 1946, and the School was opened 20 years later in 1966. Come see what makes us unique! This is the gospel, the "good news."

We preach and teach that God extends an invitation and call to receive His forgiveness, cleansing, and life that lasts from this time to eternity. This invitation or call is extended to all people, regardless of their history, background, social status, political affiliation, etc. Members of our church as well as guests and visitors are considered to be sinners who are naturally separated from God

, but unconditionally forgiven by God Himself through the atonement He has provided in the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. We all receive this not by meeting any conditions or requirements, but by God's grace, through faith in the message we preach and teach. Our use of this message as the central activity of our church is what makes us "evangelical." We worship in the tradition that Christians have used over the last 2,000 years. Our particular worship tradition is the western Christian rite that was reformed and purified in the 16th-Century Reformation connected with Dr. Martin Luther. The strength of this approach is that it helps to reliably deliver the gospel that we need so much, and keeps us focused on it. Those who would like to participate fully in our services (including the Lord's Supper, Holy Communion) are invited to take a class in Christian faith and life with our pastor. Membership at our church consists of receiving the ordinary pastoral care of God's word and sacraments through regular church attendance when possible, and extraordinary care when needed. To be a member is to have a pastor who is instructed by God and assigned to care for you, as well as a church community meant to support you in your life of faith. If you have recently been a communicant at a church that teaches and confesses as we do, you may ask our pastor to see whether the full instruction class would be needed before you fully participate in our services.

Jesus leads us—and he wants us to say it out loud!

Jesus defeats our enemies and shepherds us as his flock. The gracious gospel of forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus is the only way to the promised land of heaven.

Join us for worship tomorrow as we reflect on Christ’s leadership and our call to say it out loud!

God loves sinners—and he wants us to say it out loud.

Christians are sinners whom God has mercifully called. Only mercy can explain why Jesus brings people to faith and promises them salvation. Only grace can explain how he calls them to serve as they are able, even in the ministry of the gospel.

Join us for worship this week as we understand how God calls sinners to serve him and learn to say it out loud!

The festival of the Holy Trinity is a time to celebrate God revealing himself to us as one God in three persons. The triune God wants his people to teach this mystery in its biblical truth and purity.
Join us for worship as we celebrate the triune God and hear what God wants us to share about this truth!
Our new series “Say it Out Loud” begins Sunday!

He lives to pour out his spirit. "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink." (John 7:37)

The Spirit provides faith and purpose for life. Pentecost, the celebration of the special arrival of the Holy Spirit, is the third great festival of the Church, along with the Nativity and the Resurrection. Pentecost closes the fifty day period after Easter and ends the festival half of the church year.

Join us for worship as we close out the Easter season and celebrate Pentecost!

He lives to rule all things for the church.
Jesus is head over everything for the Church. At the time of Ascension, he takes his proper place. The Festival of the Ascension is one of the oldest and most joyful celebrations in the Christian Church. It will be observed by Christians until Christ returns to take us to be with him.
Join us for worship this Sunday as we celebrate the ascension of our Savior!
