Hello! Please watch the video in the previous post for better understanding of what is discussed here!

The following resources are related to this week's round of fund raising in K5 - the instructions page as well as the 3 verses your child can choose from (all themed "Christ's birth").

For families who would like to participate from home, I suggest that you use the Venmo option for transferring your funds.

Thank you for partnering with us this holiday season - so excited to use our time and efforts to help our local refugee neighbors!

INSTRUCTIONS PAGE:

Purpose: K5 is doing a service project to celebrate Christmas 2021! Seeing many Afghan families fleeing from their homeland and seeking asylum in Washington state, we are partnering with World Relief Seattle to show Christ’s love and welcome by helping provide for their needs – especially the needs of children! The funds we raise will go towards providing baby items, soccer balls, and winter clothing accessories for Afghan families with kids.

WEEKLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR K5 KIDS:

• Choose 1, 2, or all 3 of the memory verses to memorize with your families for this week.
• Practice each day with your family member(s).
• Ask your family members to sponsor you. Say: “I want to help refugee kids live a better life here in Washington. Would you be willing to sponsor me as I memorize Bible verses?”
• Discuss with your family how they will sponsor you – and bring your collected funds WITH THE COMPLETED SPONSOR PAPER each week to K5 on Sunday.

WEEKLY INSTRUCTIONS FOR FAMILIES:

• Practice each day the memory verse(s) that your student picks.
• When your student asks for sponsorship, please decide how you would like to support them – some ideas include a set amount per verse, or an agreed lump sum for the week. Please choose a method that you think would best motivate your student! Then choose out of the following options to transfer the funds:

2a. Cash: Please put whatever cash amount you have agreed to into the envelope provided.
2b. Check: Please make checks out to: Open Worship – TCPC with “K5 fund raiser” in the memo line. Please put your check into the envelope provided.
2c. Venmo: Please transfer the funds via Venmo – ID: (Please label your giving with the title “K5 fund raiser”.)

Note: to better build your student’s connection between their memorization work and the resulting funds, it is recommended to sponsor your student with physical payment rather than digital funds.

For all 3 options, please hand the filled envelope WITH THE COMPLETED SPONSOR PAPER to your student right before they come into K5 on Sunday to turn in.

As you dwell on God’s word together with your child, may His sweet presence fill your homes with peace, love, and faith!

Hello K5 families! Thank you for your support and patience as K5 recorded “Christmas in the Summer” today!

This week we enter December with a new theme - “Celebrate Jesus!”

Today we learned that we should celebrate because God can do anything - Zechariah and Elizabeth were a faithful, devoted couple to God; both came from a lineage of priests. Sadly, through many long years, they were unable to have children. Things change when Zechariah encounters an angel while offering incense to God inside the temple! The angel tells him that God has heard their prayers and that Elizabeth would be with child; John would be a joy to many people and would be important to God. When Zechariah asked how he could be sure of this, the angel Gabriel replied that as God’s servant, he relays God’s messages and that Zechariah would be unable to speak until John was born. In a short time, Elizabeth found out that she would have a baby; and when the time came, she gave birth to a baby boy! Eight days later when friends and family gathered, everyone assumed the baby would be named Zechariah after his father. Elizabeth told everyone, “John”. They looked to Zechariah to see what he thought. When he wrote, “His name will be John,” Zechariah was able to talk! Everyone rejoiced and understood that God was with the new family.

Memory verse: “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.” John 3:16

Coming up: For our Christmas project this year, K5 will have having a memory verse fund raiser to help Afghan families resettling in the Seattle area. It will last from 12/12 - 1/2. We ask for your participation and for your prayers regarding this event!

Hello K5 Families!

This week our lesson teaches that "wanting more and more can make you miserable". King Ahab, an infamous king of Israel, wants to buy Naboth's vineyard. Naboth refuses, wanting to keep the land in his family lineage. Ahab is so upset that he pouts in bed, refusing food. Jezebel, upon finding out the reason for Ahab's unhappiness, puts a plan in action to get the vineyard, a plan that includes Naboth's unrightful death! Elijah the prophet meets Ahab at the vineyard and relays God's message to him: "You have done evil killing and stealing from Naboth! You have brought disaster upon yourself." Ahab listens for once and shows remorse and sadness, even wearing burlap and refusing food - his desire for more made him miserable!

Memory verse: "Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against wanting more and more things. Life is not made up of how much a person has." Luke 12:15

May you have meaningful conversations and interactions with your student as you do this devotional this week. Thank you!

Hello K5 families! Here is this week's student devotional for this week...

November's theme: Contentment

Memory verse: "I can do all this through the power of Christ. He gives me strength." Philippians 4:11-13

Lesson: God can help you be content.

Paul, who has lived a life of privilege and also one of danger, write to the Philippians the secret to being content in all situations - his relationship with Jesus! God gives him what he needs no matter what he is going through. As our students go through hardships - big ones and small ones - God is present and wanting to help them get through them all.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!

Hello everyone! I had fun with all of you at the F3 event - hope you also enjoyed it and had a great, safe evening. 🎃

This week's lesson: We can use our gifts together to make a greater difference.

No one can play your part in the work God is doing in this world. God gave everyone different abilities - we need each other! When you choose to let God work through your individuality - together with others - you can make a big difference in the world around you!

Memory verse: How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. What you have done is wonderful. I know that very well. Psalm 139:14

Hope everyone has a great start to November! See you on Sunday. 😊

Hello K5 families!

This week's lesson was on how Timothy used his unique blended background and his knowledge of God's word to support the apostle Paul in his ministry to early churches. Despite his young age, God used his unique identity and talents to do big things!

Message: You can make a difference right now.

Memory verse: "How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. What you have done is wonderful. I know that very well." Psalm 139:14

I hope you have a great week - may the devotional encourage your student to use their strengths to show others Jesus!
