Lakeview Presbyterian Church

Lakeview Presbyterian Church We are a small congregation desiring to honor God through the preaching of the Bible, love toward one another and service to the community.

This recent prayer was originally used for a Graduation service…

Ever-present God, wherever we go, You are the great I Am. You were with us when we were surrounded by professors, teachers and students in crowded lecture halls and school classrooms. You are with us when we toss and turn late at night in our beds. And now, as we have just finished another phase of our learning, we go forward with many uncertainties, adventures, highs, and lows ahead. But we thank You because You walk before us. You reassure us, comfort us, and guide us. Make Your presence known to us this day as we lift up our songs, give voice to our deepest joys and fears, soak in Your Word, and faithfully respond by sharing Your Word wherever we go, in the community, and in the world for all to see and hear. For, wherever we go, on the brightest of days and darkest of nights, we long to follow You and to feel Your presence. Amen.

This week’s prayer to keep us focused…
We praise You and we glorify You, Jesus. You are our Master and owner. We, just like everyone and everything else belong to You. We praise You and we glorify You, our king and ruler, for we are Your subjects, and we owe You our perfect obedience. All of Your laws and every judgment You make are true and fair. Your word is without any error and we can trust in it. We praise You and we glorify You, our great benefactor. In You we live, and move, and exist: all that we are, or have, or can do, is wholly from You. You are the source of all; and all is for You, for You are our end and goal. We delight to love You; it is our greatest joy. For You are love itself and You are infinitely kind. May our praise not just be noise today, but authentic—from the heart. Today and every day. Amen.

This week’s prayer to keep us focused…

Lord, we have just read that there is nothing about us that You do not know and there is nowhere we can hide from You. That is both frightening and comforting. It frightens us because we are aware of our sin and the holiness You require. It comforts us because we can drop the pretense and rest in what Jesus has done. We thank You and worship You. Accept our praise this day. Amen.

This week’s prayer to keep us focused…
Most majestic Lord, Like Moses our hearts long to see more of You. We long to see You the way Peter, James and John did on that mountain so long ago. And yet it is enough, for now, to see darkly as through a glass. It is enough to see You through Your word and through what You have created. It is enough to hear Your voice speaking through godly friends and the writings of wise men and women. It is enough, because that is what You have ordained for now. We worship you as well as we can now, with meager knowledge. We worship You because what You have revealed to us so far tells us that You alone are worthy. We worship You because as an act of Your powerful grace, we long to give You honor. Be pleased today. Amen.

This week’s prayer to keep us focused…
O Lord, our Lord, Your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. When we look at the night sky and see the work of Your fingers— the moon and the stars You set in place, the ice and snow that turns our world into a giant crystal chandelier— we can’t help but wonder what are mere mortals that You should think about them? What are human beings that You should care for them? You made us only a little lower than Yourself and crowned us with glory and honor. You gave us charge of everything You made, and put all things under our authority— the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents. O Lord, our Lord, Your majestic name fills the earth! And that You should love us enough to die so that we could have a personal relationship with You is something hard to grasp. We adore You. We worship You. May You be honored in all we say and do today. Amen.

This week’s prayer to keep us focused…
O All-Transcendent God, No words can do You justice and yet You, Yourself, have spoken, using words, and it is enough. What mind can probe Your secrets? No mind can encompass You. And yet You invite us to seek You and love You with all our minds. You alone are beyond anything we could say. You alone are beyond anything we could even think. And yet, all things proclaim You. All creation reveals You. What words can possibly sing Your praises? And yet, we do praise You, for if we did not, the rocks would cry out. So as feeble as our words are, and as weak as our hearts are, we delight this day, to praise You, for You are worthy of our worship. Amen.
