Greetings,

I hope that you are doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week, we looked at the two trees in the middle of the Garden of Eden - the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam and Eve were told not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge because it would bring death. The choice was not between good and evil. The choice was between life and death. By eating from that tree, they were saying that they wanted to be like God; they wanted to choose for themselves what was good and what was evil. They were choosing to live separate from God, to be independent, rather than to abide from and receive life from the tree of life, and to live in close relationship with God.
Adam and Eve faced the same three temptations that Jesus met in the wilderness and that we still face - lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Jesus met those three temptations with submission to the Word of God, the Worship of God and the Will of God.

We have a workday planned for Saturday, September 19th at 8am. I hope that some of you can come out to help with landscaping , maintenance and cleaning of our property.

Continue to pray for Jim, Lloyd, Valerie's family and Donna's family. Also, continue to pray for our national and international leaders that they would walk in wisdom and integrity, and that we would live in unity and peace.

Continue to Love our Lord and to love our neighbors. Treat one another the way that you would like to be treated.

We live as we pray,

Rick

Greetings,

I hope that you are all doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon on our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week, we looked at the relationship of Adam and Eve before the fall into sin, after the fall, and what our relationship should be after redemption. Men and women are called to walk in equality, mutuality, unity and intimacy. We are both created in the image of God, called to increase and multiply, and called to be good stewards over God's creation. We are called to respect, love and to serve each other. Together, we are called to be his representatives.

We have a men's breakfast this Saturday, at 8am in the fellowship hall. If you would like to bring some food, please let me know.

Women are starting a new book study on The Fruitful Life starting next Tuesday, 9/8 at 10am in the fellowship hall.

We are having a work day at the church on Saturday, September 19th at 8am. I hope that many of you can come and help out.

Continue to pray for Lloyd and Jim, and for our national and international leaders.

Continue to stay in prayer, in the Word, in fellowship, in worship, in service, and in sharing Jesus with others.

We live as we pray,

Rick

Greetings,

I hope that you are doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

We looked at Genesis 1:26-28 and discussed the Image of God. We are called to be God's representatives and to take dominion in the earth. We are known by our love for one another and are called to share the message of reconciliation. We are spiritual beings able to communicate with God. We are also rational, emotional and volitional. I think that the image of God has been damaged by sin, but God is in the process of conforming us to the image of Christ. Men and Women together have been created in the image of God.

Continue to pray for Lloyd and Jim.

The women will be studying The Fruitful Life on Tuesdays at 10am starting September 8th.

We are now having childcare (preschool) during the preaching time. If you would like to help, please contact Marci, Valerie or Meredith.

Continue to pray for one another, to stay in God's Word, in fellowship, in service to our community, in sharing Jesus with others, and in worship of our gracious Lord.

We live as we pray,

Rick

Greetings,

I hope that you are doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week, we looked at Genesis 1:1-2:3 and discussed the individual seven days of creation. On days 1-3, God created form - light/darkness, sea/sky, and earth and plant life. On days 4-6, God filled the forms with sun, moon, stars, creatures of the sky, the sea and the land (including mankind). God had a plan, a purpose and was intentional. God is sovereign over creation - earth, the seas, the skys, the heavens, the animals and mankind. On the seventh day, God rested from his work. We now live from a place of completed work, from a place of rest. We serve God in order to glorify and love him. We do not work in order to gain acceptance or love. We rest in his love, his power and his wisdom.

Next week, we will look at Genesis 1:26-28 and discuss the creation of mankind - male and female - created in the image of God, and our role to be his representatives.

Continue to pray for Jim, Barb, Lloyd, Valerie's family, our national and international leaders - and for peace and unity.

We are going to be having childcare (birth to 4 years old) during the preaching time. We will have a sign-up sheet this coming week. The more people who sign up, the less often each volunteer will need to be away from the service. Please pray about helping out.

We live as we pray,

Rick

Greetings,

I hope that you are staying cool.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week, we looked at the age of creation. There are Christians who believe that the Bible teaches that the universe is about 6000 years old - Young Earthers. There are Christians who believe that the Bible does not teach a clear age for the universe. Some say that the universe is many billions of years old - Old Earthers. Most Young Earthers agree that the universe appears to be older, but that God created the universe with an appearance of age. Most Old Earthers say that the Bible is not attempting to state the age of the universe, but simply that God created and is sovereign over the universe. They speak about the day/age theory, progressive creationism, and the framework hypothesis. They say that since the sun was not created until the 4th day, that possibly, the days spoken of in Genesis one were not literal 24-hour days. This is not an essential doctrine. We can disagree on this issue and still have Christian fellowship with each other.

The women have a potluck after church this Sunday, August 16th. I hope that many of you can attend.

The women are starting a new study of the book The Fruitful Life on Tuesday, September 8th at 10am.

The Spanish language service is going well. They meet every Sunday at 2:30pm.

We would like to start having child care for preschool kids, ages birth to four, during our services. We will have a signup sheet this coming Sunday. I hope that many of you can help with this.

Continue to pray for Jim, Lloyd, Donna and Steve. Pray for the leaders in our country and in our world for wisdom, integrity and unity.

Continue to pray for each other, to stay in God's Word, in worship, in fellowship, in service to our community, and to share Jesus with others.

Please pray for my upcoming trip to Myanmar. I will be gone October 1-11.

Greetings,

I hope that you are doing well and staying cool.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

I forgot to begin my recorder until about 6 minutes into the sermon. I recorded the first part at home, but it came out much more quiet - so if you listen to this, please turn up the volume during the early part.

We have begun a new study on the first part of Genesis - chapter one to 12:3. This week, we had an introduction. We spoke about interpretation. focusing on the big picture, and we had an overview of Genesis. Next week, we will look at the age of the universe. Parts of Genesis can bring much disagreement. The main thing that the author of Genesis was emphasizing in the first couple of chapters is that God created the universe and that he is sovereign over all things.

Continue to pray for Jim and Lloyd. Continue to pray for our national and world leaders - that they would walk in wisdom and integrity.

There is a women's potluck after church on Sunday, August 16th.I hope that many of you ladies can attend. We men will somehow figure out how to feed ourselves for one meal.

On Tuesday, September 8th, at 10am, the women will begin a study on the book The Fruitful Life.

Continue to pray for each other and to stay in God's Word, in prayer, in worship, in fellowship, in service to others, and in worship.

Greetings,

I hope that you are doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

We finished the book of 1 Peter and looked at 1 Peter 5:6-14. God cares for us. The sovereign, all-knowing, loving, and gracious God cares for us. We should never take that for granted. He loves us and expressed his love by sending Jesus to bring salvation and reconciliation. Even though we are at peace with God, we still have trouble in this world and are in a battle with worldliness, our selfishness, and the devil. God is in the process of bringing us to maturity, but we need to continue to put into practice what he is working into us - to respond to his calls with obedience.

This week, we begin studying Genesis 1 through 11. Read ahead. There are many areas of disagreement in these chapters. May our gracious Lord give us all wisdom and peace as we study these foundational chapters in the Word of God.

Our Spanish language service began last week with Pastor Ramon. All went well. Please continue to pray for this service and their ministry to the Spanish speakers in our community.

We have a men's breakfast this Saturday at 8am. I hope that many of you men can attend. Contact me if you would like to bring some food.

Women will be having a potluck after the service on August 16th. I hope that many of you ladies can attend.

Women will be starting a study of the book, The Fruitful Life, by Jerry Bridges, on Tuesday, September 8th at 10am. Y'all come!

Continue to pray for Jim and Lloyd. Continue to pray for our country and our world - peace and unity.

Continue to pray for each other, to stay in God's Word, in prayer, in service to our community, in good fellowship, in worship and in sharing Jesus with others.

Greetings,

I hope that you all are doing well. I am late in sending this weekly email.

I have posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week we looked at 1 Peter 5:1-5 and discussed humble servants. Leaders are called to be servants. We are called to point people to Jesus, the Good Shepherd. We are saved by grace, but God has also called us to do good things - to serve and love God and one another. We are also called to do all of this with humility and not to lord it over others.
We are finishing 1 Peter this week. I hope that you have enjoyed this study as much as I have. Next week, we will begin looking at Genesis 1-11. Read ahead and bring your questions to these important chapters in the Word of God.

Last Sunday, our church approved the beginning of a Spanish language service on Sunday afternoons. Ramon Acosta will be coming on staff part-time, primarily pastoring this congregation, but also helping in other areas as well. Please welcome him, his wife Anita, and all of our new church members who will be attending this service. The first service will be this Sunday (7/26) at 2:30pm

We will be starting a Women's book study in September. We will be looking at the book, The Fruitful Life, by Jerry Bridges. I hope that many of you can attend.

This weekend, we will be having a two-day men's retreat at Craig and Gail's property in Albion, near the coast. We have about 12 guys coming. It should be a great time of fellowship and getting to know each other.

Continue to pray for Lloyd, Jim, Andrew, and Janet's family.

Continue to stay in God's Word, in prayer, in fellowship, in worship, in service to our community, and in sharing Jesus with others.

Greetings,

I hope that you are all doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week, we looked at 1 Peter 4:12-19 and discussed suffering according to God's will. When troubles happen in life, we tend to doubt God's power and his love. God does not cause all suffering, but he does allow us to experience consequences for our actions or the actions of others. Not everything that happens is God's will. Bad things happen. Not everything is predetermined. Our choices affect our lives and the lives of others. God can bring good out of bad things. God can use difficult times to help us to grow and to conform us to the image of Christ. Difficult times can bring us to greater dependence upon our gracious Lord.

After church next week, we will have a short church meeting to discuss the Spanish language service.

If you are interested in attending the Men's retreat, please contact me or Craig.

We will be studying Genesis 1-11 starting in August. Please read ahead and communicate with me about specific things that you would like me to discuss in the sermons.

Continue to pray for Lloyd, Jim, Andrew, John, Janet, our nation and our world.

Continue to pray for one another, to stay in God's Word, to seek good fellowship, to share Jesus with others, to serve our community and to worship our Lord in all that you do.

Greetings,

I hope that each of you is doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our church website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week, we looked at 1 Peter 4:7-11 and discussed serving, loving and praying. We are called to communicate with God through speaking and listening to him. As we grow in faith, we express that faith in love for God and one another. We show that love through hospitality and in service to others. We do all of this for the glory of God.

We will begin to study Genesis 1-11 in August. Please read through this and tell me what you would like to know more about.

We are having a Men's retreat at Craig's property near Albion near the coast Friday and Saturday, July 24 and 25. Contact me or Craig for more information.

Continue to pray for JIm and Lloyd. Continue to pray for our country and our world - that our leaders would walk in wisdom, integrity and compassion.

Continue to stay in God's Word, to pray for one another, to share Jesus with others, to serve our community and to worship God in all that you do.
