Greetings,

I hope that you are doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week, we looked at 1 Peter 3:18-22 and discussed Christ's proclamation to the imprisoned spirits who were disobedient in the days of Noah. This is a difficult passage to understand that has been interpreted many ways over the years. I think that it refers to Jesus, after his resurrection, declaring victory over the fallen angels that were kept in prison, particularly those who had been disobedient in the days of Noah. There are some who think that this teaches that Jesus descended to hell and preached the gospel to those who had not heard it in their lifetimes and gave them the opportunity to believe. I do not think that the Scriptures teach this. As always, if you would like to discuss this or other issues, I am glad to do that. May our gracious Lord give us all wisdom and grace as we seek to understand and apply the Word of God in our lives.

Continue to pray for Jim, Andrew, Lloyd and Lynn. Pray for peace in our nation and in our world.

We are having a business meeting and church potluck after church on June 28. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. At that meeting, we would like to install two new deacons - Mike Durst and Kelly Wiser. If you have any concerns about either of these men, please contact me before then.

Continue to stay in God's Word, in prayer, in fellowship, in service to our community, to share Jesus with others, and to worship our gracious Lord in all that you do.

We live as we pray,

Rick

Greetings,

I hope that you are all doing well.

Reminder - we have a Men's Breakfast this Saturday at 8:00am in our fellowship hall. I hope that many of you guys can attend.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week we looked at 1 Peter 3:13-17 and discussed our reason for hope. We are all called to share our faith with others and to be able to tell them how Jesus has affected our lives. We do not have to have all of the answers. All that we can do is tell people what we have seen and heard. We are not saved by works, but once we are saved and at peace with God, he calls us to do good and to make our world better, to be his representatives.

Continue to pray for Jim, Andrew, Lloyd, Lynn, and Coby.

Continue to stay in God's Word, to pray for each other, to share Jesus with others, to serve our community, and to worship our gracious Lord in all that you do.

We live as we pray,

Rick

Greetings,

I hope that you are well. We had a great time visiting our kids and grandkids in the Phoenix area, but we are glad to be home in Lake County.

I hope that you have a great Memorial Day as we honor those who have served our country in the military, especially those who have given their lives in service.

I have just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/ (This week's recording has poor quality. I forgot my recorder and recorded the sermon on my cell phone - so turn it up loud).

I have also attached this week's sermon notes to this email.

This week, we looked at 1 Peter 3:8-12 - Love life and see good days. Many things in life are simple and deep. If you want to see good days, be like-minded, sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Don't take revenge, let your words be uplifting, turn from evil and do good, and seek peace and pursue it. These are simple things, but not easy. The only way that we can live this way is as we depend on God every moment and walk in his presence - Coram Deo.

Continue to pray for Jim, Andrew and Lloyd.

Continue to pray for one another, to stay in God's Word, to stay in good fellowship, to share Jesus with others, to serve our community, and to worship our gracious Lord in all that you do.

We live as we pray,

Rick

This week, we looked at 1 Peter 3:1-7 and discussed wives and husbands. We looked at mutual love, respect and submission. Both men and women were created in the image of God. Together, we are Christ's ambassadors, sharing his message of reconciliation. We are called to be one spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. We are called to make each other better and to serve each other.

We are having a Church potluck and church business meeting after church on June 28th. I hope that many of you can attend.

We are also having a men's retreat at Craig and Gail's property near the coast July 24-25. I hope that many of you guys can attend.

Greetings,

I hope that all of you are doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

We are having a church workday this Saturday morning at 8am. I hope that many of you can come to help out.

This week, I spoke on Mother's Day. This is a special day to honor our mothers. None of us had perfect mothers. We all need to forgive our mothers for things that they have done in the past. We forgive others because God has forgiven us. We all need to love our mothers if they are still around. We love them in ways that make them feel loved. We need to honor them for being our mothers. We honor them for the role they played in our lives and the legacy they have left.

We heard this week that Jeanette Stephens passed away. Her family has asked me to give a graveside memorial this Saturday at 11am at Hartley Cemetery. If you knew her and would like to honor her, I encourage you to attend.

Continue to pray for Jim, Andrew, Lloyd and William.

Continue to stay in God's Word, in quality fellowship, in prayer, in service to our community, in worship and to share Jesus with others.

This Sunday, we will be looking at 1 Peter 4:1-7 and talking about wives and husbands. I hope that it is a practical and bible-based sermon.

We pray as we live,

Rick

This week, we looked at 1 Peter 2:23-25 and discussed trusting the shepherd. We are encouraged not to retaliate or to seek revenge when others wrong us. We are to trust God to bring consequences to others for their trespasses. We are to turn the other cheek, and not to seek an eye for an eye. We are to seek reconciliation, forgiveness and understanding in difficult relationships.

Continue to pray for Lloyd, Lynn, Jim, Andrew, Kiara and Olivia.

Continue to be known for your love for one another and for sharing the message of reconciliation.

Greetings,

I hope that you are all doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week, we looked at 1 Peter 2:18-22 and discussed suffering for doing good. In this passage, Peter tells the slaves to continue to submit to their masters. The priority of Peter (and Paul as well) was to share the gospel and get people saved. Their hope was that saved people would change the culture of slavery. Their priority was not to change culture and then change people. Cultural change comes best from the inside/out and not from the outside/in. Peter was emphasizing that we need to be faithful in the midst of difficult circumstances, do all that we do as unto God and follow Christ's example as we abide in Christ and depend upon his strength.

Continue to pray for Jim, Andrew, Lloyd, Kiara, Olivia, and Lynn.

Continue to pray for each other, to stay in God's Word, to serve our community, to share Jesus with others, and to worship God in all that you do.

Greetings,

I hope that all of you are doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week, we looked at 1 Peter 2:13-17, and discussed showing proper respect to everyone. This passage tells us to submit to human authorities such as emperors and governors. We discussed when it is appropriate to disobey the government when it tells us to do something contrary to what God tells us to do. We also discussed what the role of Christians is within our culture. How do we bring light, salt and the good news to a dark world? How are we able to be in the world but not of the world? How do we come alongside some people outside of the church to fight against injustice or for compassion without becoming enmeshed with a secular organization? How can we disagree with some people and still be respectful?

Continue to pray for Lynn, Lloyd, Jim, Andrew, Olivia, Jack, Jamie and Joel.

Continue to pray for each other, to stay in God's Word, to serve our community, to share Jesus with others, and to worship our gracious Lord in all that you do.

Greetings,

I hope that you are all doing well.

I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

This week, we looked at 1 Peter 2:11-12 and discussed living good lives. We are called to be people of integrity, to live godly lives that match up to our words. That doesn't mean that we need to be perfect, just honest with others on our journey of discipleship. As ambassadors for Christ, people listen to our words and look at our lives. Let's live good lives as we depend on our gracious Lord.

Brennin and Gillian have a new daughter - Somi. Everyone is healthy.

Continue to pray for each other, stay in God's Word, share your faith, serve our community, and worship God in all that you do.

Continue to pray for Jim, Andrew, Lloyd, Jack, Olivia, and for peace in our world.

Happy Easter!

I hope that you had a wonderful celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ with your family and friends.

I have just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/

We looked at Matthew 28:1-10 and spoke about Jesus' resurrection. Because Jesus has been raised from the dead, so shall we. We have peace with God by putting our faith in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. This fills us with great joy, but also causes us to be in awe of God as we learn to trust in him and are led by the Holy Spirit. We are also called to share the good news of Jesus with others that they may know him and enter into peace with God.

Continue to pray for Jim, Andrew, Lloyd, Lynn, Tim, Kiara, and our national and international leaders. We pray for peace in our world.

Continue to pray for each other, to stay in God's Word, to serve our community, to share Jesus with others, and to worship our gracious Lord in all that you do.
