Greetings,
I hope that you are doing well.
I just posted this week's sermon to our website - https://www.lakecountybible.com/sermons/
This week, we looked at 1 Peter 3:18-22 and discussed Christ's proclamation to the imprisoned spirits who were disobedient in the days of Noah. This is a difficult passage to understand that has been interpreted many ways over the years. I think that it refers to Jesus, after his resurrection, declaring victory over the fallen angels that were kept in prison, particularly those who had been disobedient in the days of Noah. There are some who think that this teaches that Jesus descended to hell and preached the gospel to those who had not heard it in their lifetimes and gave them the opportunity to believe. I do not think that the Scriptures teach this. As always, if you would like to discuss this or other issues, I am glad to do that. May our gracious Lord give us all wisdom and grace as we seek to understand and apply the Word of God in our lives.
Continue to pray for Jim, Andrew, Lloyd and Lynn. Pray for peace in our nation and in our world.
We are having a business meeting and church potluck after church on June 28. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. At that meeting, we would like to install two new deacons - Mike Durst and Kelly Wiser. If you have any concerns about either of these men, please contact me before then.
Continue to stay in God's Word, in prayer, in fellowship, in service to our community, to share Jesus with others, and to worship our gracious Lord in all that you do.
We live as we pray,
Rick
