It’s hard for us to take in the long view of our lives. Like a fly living on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, we’re simply too close to understand what the splotches, shapes, and shades mean, much less appreciate their beauty. But time and age can grant us the distance and perspective we need to see things differently. As one approaches the end of their life and views the long arc of their own story, some things come into a sharper focus and a softer light. Wounds heal, scars fade, priorities change, and values shift.
In this Sunday’s sermon, Pastor Robby used the song “No Hard Feelings” by the Avett Brothers to encourage us to let go of those hurts, hangups, and grudges that so easily weigh us down. As you move through this week, try to put one or more of these practices into action.
