Today, Guyana needs our prayers.

The Church of the Nazarene in Guyana invites the entire Mesoamerica Region to join in prayer following the sinking of the MV Barima on July 18.

According to the Government of Guyana, 76 people were rescued, 73 lost their lives, and 30 remained missing as of July 26.

“We ask our brothers and sisters throughout the Mesoamerica Region to join us in prayer,” said Pastor Timmy Spencer.

Let us pray for the families facing this painful loss, for the survivors, for those still awaiting news, and for the teams continuing their work.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted” (Psalm 34:18).

This is such a significant loss for the Church and for Pastor Mutowa’s family — will you join us in prayer in this time of grief? 

We are saddened to share that our brother, friend, and colleague, Rev. Cosmas Mutowa, FSC, of the Africa South Central Field, went to be with the Lord in the early hours of this morning.

Please keep his wife, Andronica, his children, the entire family, loved ones, and all those impacted by his life and ministry in your prayers during this time of grief.

We hold firmly to the promise of God’s Word:

Pray for the Middle East and all those affected by the recent escalation of violence.
