Thank you to everyone who has brought in school supplies for Jesse Keen Elementary School! We are still collecting supplies for the next two Sundays. Bring them to Sunday worship or drop them off at the office during the week. There is a specific need for tissues, cleaning wipes, and paper towels if you have not gotten anything yet.

We are praying for all the students, teachers, and staff who are going back to school this week. We offer this back-to-school blessing as the new school year begins:

"Learning is a gift from God

As we begin this new school year, we give thanks that God has given us the ability to learn many things in many ways.

Loving God, sometimes a new school year seems exciting or scary or both.

Help us remember to show our thanks for your gifts of learning by doing our best every day.

We ask that you bless our schools, teachers, classmates and friends.

We ask that you bless those who prepare our lunches, those who drive us to school, and those who keep our schools clean and safe.

We ask God's blessing on this new school year, that it may be a time when we appreciate and fully use God's gift of learning.

Amen."

New Sermon Series Alert!

Believe: Scripture through the Eyes of Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso is a TV comedy streaming on Apple TV, whose fourth season just began this week. It follows American football coach Ted Lasso as he is hired to coach the struggling British soccer club AFC Richmond. The team, staff, and fans are all skeptical about his hiring as Ted knows very little about soccer. As the show progresses, Ted begins to win them over through his positivity and kindness known as the “Lasso Way.”

It is a feel-good show full of heartfelt moments and life lessons. Many of the show’s plot points serve as good illustrations for lessons taught in Scripture. For the next four Sundays, we will be exploring the lectionary texts through the eyes of Ted Lasso and see if we too can learn the Lasso Way.

You do not need to watch the show to understand and enjoy each week’s message.

Happy August!

Summer is coming to a close, and we are offering prayers to all of the students, teachers, and school staff who are returning to school this month.
Here at College Heights, we are preparing for our fall ministries, hosting a school supply drive, and continuing in our year-round groups. Check out our August Newsletter to see what we have coming up and read about life in the church!

One event to highlight this week is the Prayer Rally hosted by United Methodist Temple, this Thursday from 9-11! This rally is to pray for fair voting rights for all people and for God's wisdom to prevail in the upcoming primary election on August 18th. We will also be praying for the safety and protection of our children as they head back to school next week. It is a time of prayer and worship through hymns as we call on God for wisdom and justice. This rally will be outside under a canopy and folding chairs will be available. The address is 2700 South Florida Ave. Lakeland, FL 33803. We hope to see you there!

Back to School is almost here! We are supporting our partner school Jesse Keen Elementary School with a school supply drive. These items will not only help start the year strong, but help sustain classrooms throughout it. We will be collecting school supplies through August 23rd where we will bless them in Worship. Drop off items in the church office or in the sanctuary. Thank you for your continued support of Jesse Keen!

Also, a reminder that our Snack Sack food for August is Fresh Stack Crackers. We are excited to begin food deliveries for students soon!

Picnic without Bugs!

Always a joyful time to gather together over food. We welcomed Pastor Emily and Hope, ate a wonderful meal, and got to know each other better. Thank you so much to everyone who helped to put this event on and for everyone who came.
