Day four in Nova Scotia began with a church service at Bethany United Church in Halifax. The church celebrated Pride Sunday today and the Ringers & Singers were honored to participate in their meaningful service. Afterward, we headed to Dartmouth, where we gave a joint afternoon concert with the Grace United Choir. It was so fun to share the stage with their talented choir members! Dinner was a short walk down the street to The Wooden Monkey restaurant, where we enjoyed a wonderful meal together and celebrated all seven of our handbell members who have June birthdays. It was a fantastic day of enjoyable fellowship! 🎶

Day three of the Ringers & Singers tour began with rain, fog and cooler weather in Nova Scotia. We began the day with a visit to the Grand-Pré National Historic Site, where we learned all about Acadian culture and the cruel deportation of Acadians from their land between 1755 and 1764. As the weather cleared, we were able to explore the chapel at beautiful Acadia University in Wolfville. For lunch, we ate fresh lobster at Hall’s Harbour on the Bay of Fundy, where the tide was so low at that time of day, the boats were sitting in the dirt! Later in the afternoon, we had a wonderful tea lovingly prepared by the Pereaux United Baptist Church and then we ended the evening with a concert at Centreville Baptist Church. The people of Nova Scotia have been so warm and welcoming; we have been blessed by their gracious hospitality.

The Ringers & Singers started day two of our Nova Scotia adventures visiting Peggy’s Cove. It was a gorgeous day to visit the beautiful coastal landmark, and we saw a bagpiper playing down on the rocks. We then visited the postcard-perfect town on Lunenburg, where we ate a delicious lunch at the Old Fish Factory and explored the deck of the Bluenose II. We then received a warm welcome from the people of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mahone Bay later this evening as we prepared for our first concert there. We enjoyed visiting with them before and after our concert, and they were so kind to prepare a wonderful meal for us. We had the best time connecting with everyone and sharing God's love through music! 🎶

TONIGHT!! Join us for Good Friday Tenebrae: A Service of Darkness at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary at First UMC Lakeland.

On this solemn and powerful night of Holy Week, we gather to remember Christ’s suffering and death through scripture, silence, and the gradual dimming of light. Tenebrae invites us into the weight of Good Friday and the deep mystery of the cross.

All are welcome to join us in the Sanctuary for this sacred time of worship and reflection.
