On the Tenth Sunday after Trinity, Jesus prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem and its temple. The temple had to pass away, as a shadow of the things to come, the reality now found in Christ and our worship.

On Sunday, we observed the anniversary of our nation's founding with a special service based on the Lutheran colonial American liturgy of 1748! This liturgy was the first step towards a common liturgy, culminating in the Common Service of 1888, which we use every Sunday. Pastor also wore the vestments that were in use at that time. On Saturday, Lazarus, son of Pastor and Brianna, was baptized, washing away all of his sins by water and the Word. Christ spoke to the dead man, "Lazarus, come out!" and now this Lazarus, too, has been brought from death to life.

He that believes and is baptized
Shall see the Lord's salvation;
Baptized into the death of Christ,
