James 1:14-15 “The Enemy Within”
True freedom begins when excuses end and surrender begins.
Temptation succeeds because something we desire is presented to us. Until we deal with what’s happening on the inside, we will continue blaming what’s on the outside. Until we confront our own desires, we will continue blaming the devil for our own downfalls.
Satan studies our weaknesses. He is patient and observant. He notices your appetite, recognizes your wounds, and sees your recurring struggles. The temptation is tailored to what you desire because it connects to something already in the heart. He does not create the desire, he exploits what is already there.
We spend more time rebuking the devil than crucifying our flesh.
Whatever you starve will die. Whatever you feed will grow. So what are we feeding, and what are we starving?
God raises His voice to get our attention, to correct us, and to save us, not to punish us, but to convict us and keep us from danger. God came to transform our lives.
We serve a God of order. When He speaks, He speaks in order. What He does, He does in order.
God is giving us a way out. He can help you. He can realign your heart. Let Him work in you. Let your desires align with God.
“Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.”
So ask yourself today: What are your desires?
