He then pursued his career in the Jamaican Military where he served 5yrs. from the Military, he worked in the Life Insurance Industry for four years. He met and married his beautiful wife, Genevieve Powell in 1989. In 1990, he and his family migrated to the United States, with a supernatural plan by the almighty God, him and his family resided with a Pastor and his family and they invited them to
Church. That invitation allowed him to make the spiritual connection with the Lord he has been seeking for many years. At the age of 31, he gave his life to the Lord and was baptized that same year. Very soon after his salvation, his Pastor identified the calling of God on his life so he was asked to minister the word frequently, Soon after, he was chosen to be a Youth Leader. In 1995, his wife expressed her desire to be reunited to the Berean Church of God in which she was brought up. At the Berean Church, his Pastors saw the anointing of God on his life, and gave him all the support and encouragement he needed in the Ministry. In 1996, he was appointed as the Youth Director and served in that capacity for three years. As the Youth Director, he led dozens of young people to the Lord including his own two beautiful daughters, Jovana and Jamila. Bishop Powell pursued his theological degree at the Plantation Christian University and in 1997, he was ordained as an Evangelist. In 2003, he was ordained as a Pastor and became the Assistant Pastor of the Berean Church of God Int'l, Ft. Lauderdale, where he worked for 3yrs. In 2006, he was asked by his Bishop and the Lakeland Brethren to serve as the Senior Pastor for the Lakeland Church. Pastor Powell is an anointed dynamic Pastor, filled with the Holy Ghost. A visionary who is driven with a passion for the Lord, His word and the people whom he is called to serve. He is a father of four children, a Mortgage Broker and is happily married for over 21yrs. He loves his wife and children with everlasting love and attributes his success in Ministry to the Lord, his wonderful wife and children, his loving mother and the faithful brethren whom he leads with great passion.
