Gather with us at Lake Waccamaw Presbyterian Church on Palm Sunday as we begin worship together in a special way.

We will meet out front prior to the 11:00 service. Then, carrying palm branches, we will process into the sanctuary together—remembering and celebrating Jesus’ triumphant entry.

All are welcome to come and be part of this meaningful and joyful tradition! 🌿

Dear Church Family,

Today, we enter the holy season of Lent on this Ash Wednesday. It is a sacred time of prayer, confession, and renewal as we begin the journey toward the cross and the empty tomb.

While we do not gather for a formal Ash Wednesday service and the imposition of ashes, I want to offer you a personal challenge as well.

At every point this day, when you wash your hands, stand in front of a mirror. Look honestly at yourself — not just at your appearance, but at your heart. Then, with a bit of water on your finger, trace the sign of the cross on your own forehead

And as you do, speak these solemn and ancient words aloud:

“From dust you came, and to dust you shall return.”

They are not meant to frighten us. They are meant to ground us.

They remind us of our mortality.
They humble our pride.
They strip away illusion.
They tell the truth about our fragile humanity.

But the cross you trace reminds you of something even greater — that you belong to Christ. That even in dust and frailty, you are marked by grace. That death does not have the final word.

Ash Wednesday is not about shame. It is about honesty.
It is not about despair. It is about hope rooted in repentance.
It is not about loss. It is about making room — room for Christ to shape us again.

May this Lent be a season when we allow God to examine, refine, and renew us.

I look forward to worshiping with you.

God Bless,

Pastor Dayton
