So I was in charge of church today, but with the power outage we didn’t have it.
Here is a little sermon or more of a story for the little children.
Below you see a candy cane and I bet many people still don’t know the symbolism that goes along with it.

The candy cane was first made by a 18th century candy maker in Europe . He was also a oppressed Christian. If you notice the candy cane is shaped like a Sheppard staff. During the time of Jesus it was referred to as a cane. The symbolism here is that we all know Jesus is our Sheppard .

If you turn the candy cane upside down it becomes the letter “J” which stands for Jesus.

The candy maker made the candy cane hard to remind children that Jesus was our rock, dependable and strong.

The red stripes were added to represent Jesus’s crucifixion. It also represents his blood which saves us from sin.

The white represents Jesus’s Holiness and Purity.

The peppermint flavor was chosen to represent Hyssop which was used for purification.

Breaking the candy cane to eat reminds us that Jesus’s body was broken at crucifixion but his love for us never wavered.

The candy cane was given as a gift to represent the love of Christ.

Maybe from now on was should once again become is. If you get a candy cane for Christmas remember the symbolism that goes along with it.

Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign.
Behold the virgin will conceive and bear a son.
And shall call his name Immanuel .

Yesterday our community said farewell to Rusty. We listened as Brother Marty Tackett, Dr.Lisa Moon and a brother in law and friend speak about Rusty. I think it safe to say Rusty was a righteous man. Halfway through the service I felt calmness because I knew God needed him because he was truly a righteous man. Rusty’s loss is not easy to stomach but we have comfort in knowing where he is. If we do as Brother Marty said we will see him again. To Carrie, Alyssa, Miranda and Mason take the time to mourn but hold your heads high knowing that Rusty was one of the most righteous to ever live.

Dear Lord,

We continue to pray for peace and understanding for Rusty’s family and our community. Help us to understand your plan for the rest of us. We pray for protection for the Ag pilots of our community and all of them across this country.

Amen

For he will never be shaken;
The Righteous will be remembered forever

Our community lost a great one today. Rusty was devoted to his family, church and the community. Rusty helped raise countless dollars for charity with his auctioneering skills. Rusty was always even in temperament . Please pray for his family as they mourn his loss. We never understand why these things happen. I guess God needed a pilot. Rusty can rest assured that his family will be loved by many of us left here on earth.

The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit

I know it’s been awhile but I thought it was time for a post. Yesterday evening I was all wrapped watching a special someone run her horse up and down the arena. I’m at a youth horse event. I was shocked at the low numbers participating. I started talking to a MSU extension guy about it, he said it’s fuel and everyday living cost. I got to thinking and agreed. It takes a lot of money now to pull a horse trailer then you have food and entry fee’s. The price of fuel in America today is killing grass root events like this 4-H district event. If you look in the Bible you see nothing but stories of hard work. Work is what our country is lacking today. Look at Noah he didn’t sit around and wait for a free boat, he built one of the greatest boats in history by hand. The high price of fuel is directly related to all the free money handed out during Covid. As Christian’s we must work hard for everything even our faith. Our faith is not just given to us we have to earn it. Nothing is free without a cost sooner our later. Christians must come together to challenge the evil that is taking place today in the world.

Dear Lord,

We come to you today asking for strength and guidance, we ask for your blessing on all of us to help us get through these trying times in our world. Please help us always to remember that you are with us.

Amen
