St. Andrews By-the-Lake welcomes Rev. Dr. Kent Reynolds as its guest speaker on Sunday, September 6, at 11:00 a.m. This is the closing service of the 2026 worship season.

Dr. Reynolds enjoyed a thirty-year career as a pastor in the United Methodist Church. Following his pastoral career, he began his doctoral studies focused on leadership development, the research for which was conducted in Tanzania, East Africa. While in the midst of his degree program he was asked to join the faculty and taught advanced leadership and homiletics to U.S. and international doctoral students. Upon completion of his degree, he left the faculty to focus on international projects, primarily in leadership development, but also aid, education, health care, and microeconomics.

In 2014, he was approached by the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), to construct a new leadership development program. Once the program was fully developed, he left AIPAC and focused on consulting for organizations seeking to improve their leadership and governance. In 2023 he was invited to travel to Ukraine and now works with an organization devoted to helping the Ukrainian people.

Dr. Reynolds holds a BA in behavioral science from Lakeland College (Sheboygan, WI), a M.Div. in theology from Emory University (Atlanta, GA), and a D.Min. from Asbury University (Wilmore, KY).

And on Sundays… I remember what truly matters.

In the midst of the week’s noise, worries, and endless lists, Sunday comes like a gentle whisper: rest, breathe, draw near to God.

It’s a day to reset my heart, to anchor my soul in His truth, to rest in the presence of the One who holds all things together.

Faith is renewed.

Rest is received.

Time with God becomes my greatest treasure.

Because in His presence, there is fullness of joy and peace that no circumstance can take away.

Today, I’ll choose to slow down, to be still, to listen—and remember that peace isn’t found in a perfect life, but in a faithful God.

It’s my favorite kind of peace. 🙏🏻🤍

You don’t need a platform to make an impact.

Jesus didn’t say, “Go build a stage.”

He said, “Go and make disciples.” — Matthew 28:19

Your kitchen can be a ministry.

Your workplace can be a ministry.

Your classroom can be a ministry.

Your home can be a ministry.

Your social media can be a ministry.

Even a five-minute conversation can become an opportunity to point someone toward Jesus.

Never confuse visibility with fruitfulness.

A microphone can make you heard by thousands, but obedience can change one life.

A stage can give you an audience, but love can give you influence.

A platform can make you known, but servanthood makes Christ known.

Some of the most powerful ministry you will ever do may never be recorded, posted, or applauded.

God sees the prayers you prayed in secret.

The kindness nobody noticed.

The person you encouraged when no one else cared.

The sacrifice you made without receiving recognition.

Heaven sees what people overlook.

So don’t wait for a title before you serve.

Don’t wait for a platform before you preach through your life.

Don’t wait for a microphone before you become a voice of hope.

Don’t wait for a church position before you start serving people.

If you belong to Jesus, you already have a ministry.

Your life is the platform.

Your character is the message.

Your love is the evidence.

Your obedience is the offering.

And your purpose is to make Jesus known.

Because ministry was never about being seen.

It was always about serving.

So serve when nobody is watching.

Love when nobody applauds.

Pray when nobody knows.

Give when nobody thanks you.

And point people to Jesus wherever God has placed you.

St. Andrews By-the-Lake Chapel welcomes Rev. Dr. Billie Hanks, Jr. as its guest speaker on Sunday, August 23, at 11:00 a.m.

Dr. Hanks founded the International Evangelism Association in 1972 and today, in partnership with many denominations, it leads Great Commission disciple-making outreach in 25 languages. At the age of 20, he became the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s first intern. He traveled throughout the world with their team learning Crusade Evangelism and later became an evangelist in his own right, preaching in 29 countries. He was then invited to serve as a “minister at large” for BGEA and in that capacity, equipped large numbers of Christian disciple-makers to personally minister to new believers following Dr. Graham’s crusades.

Becoming A Disciple-Maker’s 24-week series of life-to-life instruction is now being widely used by churches and seminaries in North America, South America, and Western Europe. This New Testament initiative is encouraging pastors in partnering denominations to equip their members to share their faith and train disciples as a lifestyle. Over several decades, Dr. Hanks has also enjoyed personally equipping 40 highly dedicated Christian leaders including educators, pastors, missionaries, and businessmen. This disciple-making lifestyle multiplies naturally (Mark 4:8).

Dr. Hanks graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree and received Honorary doctorates from two Christian universities. His spiritual literature and sacred compositions have become religious best sellers.

All are welcome at St. Andrews By-the-Lake Chapel. Services feature guest speakers from a wide range of Christian denominations as well as non-denominational traditions. The chapel is located at 556 Blue Ridge Rd.

We look forward to seeing you!

Tell Him everything.
Cry if you need to.
Be honest.
Lay it all down.

He already knows.. and He is still listening. 🤍🙏🏻

Such important lessons we learned from Rev. Greg Kronz's sermon.

"The Holy Spirit is the breath of life. He's the spring of living water. He's the only one that satisfies what we need at our deepest levels.

And transform your lives to become more and more like the character of Christ filled with love, filled with joy, filled with peace and bear his fruit.

The fruit of the spirit. The fruit of the other believers. The fruit of giving and serving. That's what he wants for you.

We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit every day, every day."
