Happy Fourth! This quotation shared by our sister denomination the OPC comes from the Presbyterian pastor John Witherspoon (1723-1794), the only clergyman to sign the Declaration and president of Princeton from 1768-1794. As we remember his legacy and give thanks for the freedoms we have enjoyed for 250 years, may we also pray for revival in our nation and grace to have these liberties preserved for generations yet to come. "Lord God, by Your providence our founders won their liberties of old: grant that we and all the people of this land may have grace to exercise these liberties in righteousness and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
