Holiday Greetings and Merry Christmas from the Howarth United Methodist Church
As we enter the Advent and Christmas season, it is with great joy that I extend a heartfelt invitation to you to join us at Howarth United Methodist Church. Whether you’ve been part of our church family for years or are simply seeking a place of peace and connection this holiday season, we welcome you with open arms.
At Howarth UMC, we pride ourselves on creating a warm, inviting, and relaxed atmosphere where all are welcome, regardless of background or where you are on your faith journey. This season, we are especially excited to share the beauty and meaning of Advent with you. Each Sunday, we gather to light the Advent candles together, symbolizing the growing light of Christ as we await His birth. It is a simple yet profound tradition that sets the tone for our hearts and minds during this sacred time.
Our church is beautifully decorated for Christmas, and the spirit of the season fills every corner. We hope you will come and experience the warmth of our community, as we celebrate the true meaning of Christmas—God’s greatest gift of love in the birth of Jesus Christ.
On Christmas Eve, we will hold our Candlelight Service at 6:30 pm, a cherished tradition for our congregation. It is a peaceful and reflective time when we come together to sing the timeless hymn, "Silent Night," by candlelight, and to celebrate the birth of Christ with joy, peace, and reverence.
We would be honored to have you join us for worship throughout Advent, and especially on Christmas Eve. There is no better time to connect with others, reflect on the gift of Christ, and experience the warmth of a community that truly cares. We invite you to come as you are—whether you are seeking a place to worship, a community to belong to, or simply a welcoming space to reflect during the holiday season.
On behalf of the entire congregation, I offer you a warm welcome. May this Advent season be a time of hope, peace, and joy for you and your loved ones. We look forward to celebrating the gift of Christmas together with you.
Blessings,
Pastor Marv Herman

Hosanna, our King has entered Jerusalem! Happy Palm Sunday friends.

On this day of holy week, people of Jerusalem lined the path as Jesus rode in to Jerusalem.

A note from the pastor:

Many of us are looking forward to Spring. In just a few short weeks, we will be entering into the Lenten season. As Easter approaches, we as Christians are to spend the 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Holy Week to reflect on the past year and to prepare ourselves to honor Jesus' resurrection. If your Sunday School days are far in the rearview mirror, here's a quick refresher:

In 2023, Lent begins on February 22, on a day known as Ash Wednesday. It officially ends on April 14, or Holy Thursday. That day, the Thursday before Easter, commemorates when Jesus gathered with his 12 disciples to celebrate Passover before he was crucified, which took place on Good Friday. Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate Jesus rising from the dead, three days later. The Lenten season is inspired by the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert preparing for his own sacrifice. In that same spirit of sacrifice and reflection, many people will give up something they love like chocolate, a bad habit or another favorite food. Many also abstain from eating meat
other than fish on Fridays. But others prefer to spend the time thinking and praying about something important to them. Maybe that includes ways they can work toward being better or more prayerful people or ways to make the world a better place.

So, if you are looking for some fuel to warm your spirit between now and Spring, mark your calendar and join us for Sunday worship services during this year’s Lenten season and Easter. Yes, let us share with you and yours the Good News of Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer.

All are welcome during Lent and all year too. Until then, I am hoping to see you soon, and pray that you will strongly consider allowing the Howarth United Methodist Church to be your home church in the very near future.

God bless,
Pastor Marv Herman.
