East Norden Cemetery Association The East Norden Cemetery is located 4 miles east and 1 1/2 miles north of Lake Norden, SD. It was originally part of the East Norden Lutheran Church.

The East Norden Cemetery Association is a non-profit organization registered with the South Dakota Secretary of State.

Descendants of those resting in the East Norden Cemetery have scattered near and far. This page is to provide views by those interested in the present and future condition of the cemetery, the history of the area evidenced by those who once lived here and soliciting donations for perpetual care.

General information

The East Norden Cemetery is located 4 miles east and 1 1/2 miles north of Lake Norden, SD along the west side of US Highway 81. It was originally part of the East Norden Lutheran Church which was founded in 1880. The actual land for the cemetery was donated by Wilhelm and Olena Meisel and dedicated on July 3, 1897 by Rev. Paul Hendrickson when the first interment, John Svarvari, was laid to rest. In 1967 the church was closed and the building eventually torn down after the congregation merged with two other churches in Lake Norden and the cemetery has been a stand alone organization since.
