Title: “Wake Up and Walk in Love”
Romans 13:8–14 reminds us that the Christian life is a life of love,
spiritual alertness, and hope. We are called to love others continually,
because love fulfills God's law. Paul tells us to “wake up” spiritually
because our time is precious and our salvation is drawing nearer.
We are also called to put away the works of darkness and “put on the
Lord Jesus Christ.” This means allowing Christ's character love,
patience, forgiveness, kindness, faith, and hope to become visible in our
daily lives.
For older believers especially, the passage is an encouragement that our
lives remain valuable and useful to God. Even when physical abilities
diminish, we can still pray, encourage, love, teach, and testify to God's
faithfulness.
Psalm 149 reminds us to respond with praise. Whatever our age or
circumstances, God remains worthy of worship.
Main message: We do not retire from following Jesus. Until our earthly
journey is complete, we can keep loving, praying, serving, encouraging,
and praising God.
Key thought to remember: “Wake up, walk in the light, put on Christ,
love one another, and keep praising the Lord.”
