Too often, I put off faithful living today for “someday”—when things are easier or when I get my act together or when I actually feel equipped and ready. But I’m sure someday, I'll look back and wonder why I didn’t joyfully follow Jesus—even when the road was narrow, the way foggy, and the directions seemingly nonexistent. I’ll look back and see that he has always been faithful, even when I have been faithless.
I spend too many moments in the “someday" mindset. It's easier to make excuses than to live in faithful obedience right here, right now. But excuses lead to guilt, disappointment, and the nagging feeling of missing out. Obedience leads to joy, peace, fullness, and abundance. Obedience is rarely easy, but it's always worth it.
I'm guessing there's something on your own “someday” list. Maybe it’s committing to daily Bible study. Maybe it’s going on a mission trip. Maybe it’s having your neighbors over for dinner to show them the love of Christ. Or maybe it’s starting to share your faith with those around you.
By the work of Christ in your life, you are empowered to be faithful today. Don’t put off living faithfully and obediently for someday. The day is now, and the time is here. Let’s give it all we’ve got for the kingdom of God.
