On Sunday, August 30, 2026 the congregation of Chimney Rock Baptist Church celebrated it’s centennial at our Worship Service. All Members past and present, as well as people from the Community were invited.
The Service began with Pastor Alex Heafner welcoming all of the attendees and offering a prayer which called everyone to worship. One of the highlights of the service featured Rodney Latimore, the former music director of CRBC, singing ‘People Need The Lord’. Next, some of the historic moments during the Church’s 100 year tenure were highlighted by Paula Moore. A prayer of Thanksgiving was offered by Rev. Gene Daggerhart, former Pastor of CRBC. His prayer and comments were immediately followed by a medley of Praise by the Congregation and Choir led by Mr. Latimore and the presence of The Holy Spirit filled the Sanctuary.
A plaque was presented from the Congregation by David Beihl and graciously received by Pastor Heafner. Pastor Alex’s sermon spoke about how King Solomon was permitted by The Lord to build a Temple and how The Lord promised to bless the Temple with his presence if the people followed His Law.
Overall the Celebration was a testimony to God’s love, His kept promises to His people, and His saving grace which was made available to us when He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to go to the cross for our salvation.

On this Memorial Day 2026, We have the privilege to pay honor to those who have given their lives so that we enjoy our freedom. These individuals need no introduction because they have one thing in common. They made the ultimate sacrifice to allow us to enjoy our liberty for awhile longer. They protected our right to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and pay honor and glory to Him for the abundant blessings that our country enjoys.
The fact that our freedom isn’t free is the most valuable lesson that each of them have taught us. We should never forget them, nor should we ever take for granted the liberty that each and every American celebrates today. May they Rest in Peace and Never be Forgotten.
