Extreme weather is becoming the new normal.

Our November Journey to Joy at Lake Junaluska in the mountains was canceled because of a hurricane. Last weekend’s Journey to Joy on Hilton Head Island, at the beach, has been postponed to this week—because of snow. Go figure!

One way to help Western North Carolina continue recovering is by planning a visit. Here are some opportunities to join us:

We are thrilled to announce the Worship Leader for the Journey to Joy: Lessons from the Letters Women’s Weekend on August 23-25. Abbey Blackwood, a Middle School Director, at one of the Northpoint Churches in the greater Atlanta area. Abbey is passionate about her faith and leading worshipful experiences that bring people closer to the Lord.
 
 
Journey to Joy: Lessons from the Letters is a joyful and worship-filled time of fellowship and learning, exploring the letters to the seven churches in the opening chapters of the book of Revelation revealing the path to abundant life.

Thank you to the ladies who journeyed to the Women of the Cross this weekend.

My heart is full of gratitude for the love and fellowship we shared with each other and the time for worshipping and praising the Lord.

As we go through our days and weeks ahead, may we keep in mind the Bible verses from this weekend.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.  I will be found by you” Jeremiah 29:13-14

May these words encourage us as we seek intimacy with our Lord and Savior.

As we are preparing for our Women of the Cross Women’s Weekend at Lake Junaluska, I am reading a wonderful book by Angela Hunt.

A Woman of Words is Biblical and Historical Fiction depicting the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus after His resurrection. The story begins with Mary asking Matthew, the apostle, to help her record the stories of Jesus so that others will know. Reluctantly, Matthew agrees although he longs for the prestige of more high-profile ministry work.
 
The plot creatively engages the reader while remaining true to the gospel. This book causes the reader to think of the men and women in the Bible as real people with thoughts and emotions similar to ours.
