God is doing something so wonderful in Remnant kids.
Good morning Remnant Families!
I am excited to share we will be starting a 4-year curriculum called KidStory this Sunday! The curriculum starts with a partial year in the Old Testament and then moves into the New Testament for the rest of the year.
Year One is the basic stories most adults know. Then the following years, stories that fell in between the big stories, will be taught.
Throughout the four Gospels we see Jesus telling stories. It is how He would intimately connect with His listeners.
After a year of trying different curricula, this is where the Lord has led me.
KidStory:
We will start with an open discussion question that pertains to the story. Example: have you ever tried to create something new? (Genesis 1)
Then we will give quick background to the story or define words from the lesson kids may not be familiar with.
Example: what does the word sin mean? (Genesis 3)
We will “story tell” the lesson for the day just like Jesus did in the Gospels.
We will read the story from the Bible.
We will retell the story with some form of interaction so the kids will be able to remember the story and share it with their friends.
We will wrap up the lesson with 3 questions:
Head question: a question about the facts of the story (example-what part of this story jumped out to you?)
Heart question: a question about how does this story make them feel (example-what feeling did you have as you heard this story)
Hands question: a question about how can they may be able to take this story and use it in their own lives and/or share it with others. (Example-what do you think the Holy Spirit is asking you to do?)
Then close in a prayer.
There will be a lesson page for parents to take home downstairs in the lobby. Please take one with you so you can help our Remnant Kids continue to learn and apply the Word of God!
If you or your friends would like to get their kids involved into a kids ministry that is starting with the basic Biblical stories of the Bible and then building their knowledge from there, NOW is the time to join us.
If your child is very familiar with the Bible, I will be adding a tiny nugget of deep dive to each lesson to keep them involved and challenged. Don’t let going back to “the basics” discourage you!!
Also, MOST IMPORTANT!!!
Please be in prayer that the Lord rules, reigns and moves in a mighty way to build Remnant disciples out of this curriculum/format.
With MUCH love,
Ms Shawn.
