A Pastoral Address to the American People
On the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America

Beloved brothers and sisters, fellow citizens, neighbors, and friends,

Today, as our nation marks the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, the American Orthodox Catholic Church gives thanks to Almighty God for the gift of freedom, the dignity of the human person, and the sacred responsibility entrusted to every generation.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, a vision was declared before the world. It was a vision that recognized that human rights are not granted by kings, governments, parties, or institutions, but are given by our Creator. That truth remains one of the great moral foundations of this nation. It reminds us that every person carries a dignity that must be honored, protected, and defended.

As the American Orthodox Catholic Church, we speak today with gratitude, humility, and hope. We give thanks for the blessings of this land, for the sacrifices of those who came before us, for the courage of those who served, for the labor of families who built communities, and for the prayers of the faithful who believed that America could be more than a nation of laws. She could be a nation with a conscience.

Yet on this anniversary, we also know that America stands in need of healing. We see division in our public life, distrust among neighbors, confusion in our homes, pain in our cities, and weariness in the hearts of many. Our nation has achieved much, but she still needs the mercy of God. She still needs truth. She still needs repentance. She still needs love.

The American Orthodox Catholic Church desires to be a refuge and a beacon of hope in this country. We desire to be a house of prayer, a place of healing, a witness to unity, and a living reminder that the deepest answer to the crisis of man is found in Jesus Christ.

We believe America is more than a melting pot. We are not called to erase the reality of culture, heritage, language, ancestry, or story. God has gathered people from many nations, many histories, and many walks of life. The beauty of America is not that every difference disappears, but that through love, humility, faith, and shared purpose, many peoples can become one community.

As Christians, we believe this unity reaches its fullness in Christ. In Him, our diversity is not destroyed. It is healed, ordered, sanctified, and lifted into communion. In Christ, we learn to see one another not as enemies, strangers, or competitors, but as persons made in the image and likeness of God.

Therefore, on this 250th anniversary, we extend our arms to the American people and say clearly: you are welcome among us. The doors of the American Orthodox Catholic Church are open to all who seek God, all who hunger for truth, all who desire healing, all who are weary from the noise of the age, and all who long for a deeper life in Christ.

We welcome the faithful and the searching. We welcome the broken and the burdened. We welcome families, children, elders, laborers, leaders, the poor, the forgotten, and those who feel they have no place to belong. In the Church, no one comes as a political category, a social label, or a cultural stereotype. We come as souls before the living God.

Our prayer is that America would rediscover the source of her freedom. Freedom without virtue becomes chaos. Rights without responsibility become selfishness. Prosperity without justice becomes vanity. Power without mercy becomes oppression. But when freedom is joined to truth, when rights are joined to righteousness, and when liberty is joined to love, a nation can become a blessing to its people and a light to the world.

We pray today for the President, for all civil authorities, for those who serve in the armed forces, for first responders, for teachers, for parents, for clergy, for workers, for the suffering, for the poor, for the imprisoned, for the unborn, for the elderly, for immigrants, for every family, and for every community across this land.

We pray for peace where there is hostility. We pray for wisdom where there is confusion. We pray for courage where there is fear. We pray for humility where there is pride. We pray for unity where there is division. Above all, we pray that the light of Christ would shine in our homes, our churches, our cities, and our nation.

America’s 250th anniversary is more than a celebration of the past. It is a summons to the future. It is a call to remember who we are, to confess where we have fallen short, and to labor together for a nation marked by faith, hope, justice, mercy, and love.

May God bless the United States of America. May He bless all her people. May He guide us into repentance, strengthen us in truth, preserve us in freedom, and unite us in the love of Jesus Christ.

Happy 250th Anniversary, America.

May the freedom entrusted to this nation continue to serve the dignity of all people, the flourishing of every family, and the glory of Almighty God.

In Christ,

The Holy Synod Of The American Orthodox Catholic Church
