What is a trauma bond?

"A trauma bond is when the same person who causes us pain also gives us relief."-Laura Mangin-McDonald

Did you know that chemicals bond, too?

Whenever a person causes us stress, such as being abusive, rejecting us, yelling at us, or being unpredictable, it causes us to do 4 things:

1. Fight
2. Flight
3. Freeze
4. Fawn

Our nervous system is heightened through cortisol.

Then, if that person calms down and starts to become "nice" again, we may experience dopamine because we no longer feel like we're on high alert.
