At Halycon Cemetery we take pride in allowing people to express their lives in memorial. These monuments were installed this week and each person was able to personally design their memorial in life or through families wishes. FYI some of these people are still activily living, they decided to install their stones now so they can make their decisions on how to showcase their life memorials while they are still able. We truly feel they are beautifully crafted and showcased.

IN MEMORY OF DANNY ROSSOW

This morning, I took a call from Linda Rossow, Danny’s Wife. She informed me that Danny had died on Monday, January 13, 2025. I was unaware that he was suffering. She explained that he was in home hospice with a failing heart. She also shared that he died peacefully and didn’t want a fuss. Very typical.
I had a lot on my plate and when she called, I was at Halcyon doing my regular check ride. I went on my way thinking I would get things done and then take time to think about my one and only brother. Well grief took its grip on me harder and harder until I had to stop. I was convinced of that right after I hit my head on a furnace.
I had to do something, something that might benefit Danny. I decided to stop and see Geni to ask a favor. Now Danny and I are not too religious but “you just never know”. The closer I got to Union Cemetery; the more grief took control. It brought back so many thoughts of Geni, Marge and Roy. I had to stop and dry my eyes several times.

This is what I asked of Geni
Geni, please ask the LORD to make an exception for Danny. He won’t regret doing it:
He will find that Danny is a great human being and he has a BIG, BIG HEART. So big it took him out. Lord, if you ever need any hard work done by a clever person, Danny is you guy. He will show up early and stay late until the chore is done.
If something breaks, Danny will fix it, no matter how big the task. He has saved his brothers ASS too many times to count. No way I can ever thank him enough.

If you power goes out, Danny is a GENIUS at current and voltage. He will get you up in a snap but please excuse him as he not to good at cleaning up after himself. Geni will help him as well as Marge. I don’t know if you have snow where you are but Danny will keep all the snow machines running for everyone. He is a snow wizard.
Danny and I built a lot of things together and he was my favorite person to work with. Lunches with Danny were a hoot. He can find humor in just about everything.

If anyone gets a little down, just ask Danny to tell some stories about Roy. They will feel much better when they hear the tails. Roy provided us all with storylines that would make you laugh until your stomach hurt.

Danny was rarely grumpy but it was usually for good reasons – it didn’t last long.

So, Lord, if there are any unpaid issues in Danny’s account, please shoulder them over to me, Danny’s younger brother Pidge. I will gladly take on the debt. I know Geni will enjoy having him around and so will you.
You can count on him when you need him. Please take care of him

RIP

Service Burial today to honor Pa. Taiwan Abodunde.
Pa. Taiwo Akinremi Abodunde was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, the twin son of Emmanuel Atoyebi Abodunde and Dorcas Olaore Abodunde (Nee Aiyepola). He and his twin brother were initially raised in Ibadan following the loss of their mother. They were reunited with their maternal Uncle, Pa. Olukayode Aiyepola while they were in secondary school at about 12 years old.

After attending Renascent High School (a private co-educational secondary school) situated at Aremo/Agugu area in Ibadan metropolitan, he passed the West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE) with flying colors in 1968 especially excelling in his love for Mathematics and Bookkeeping.

In 1969, he moved to Lagos for employment. He was engaged by a Textile Company named Teksons for many years as an accounting clerk. As an ambitious young man yearning for advancement, he resigned from Teksons company for further studies in the UK.

He was admitted into Southwest London College at Streatham for an Accountancy degree (now University of West London) in 1975. He graduated in 1978 and worked briefly with Shell UK as a trainee accountant before heading home in 1979.

He was engaged by Columbia Hospital Limited to set up its accounting procedures for the company as its pioneer accountant. This he did flawlessly. He met his heartthrob, Abosede Abodunde (nee Adebanjo) the same year and got married in 1980. In mid 1990, he resigned from Columbia Hospital and migrated to North America with his family for better opportunities.

Pa. Abodunde spent the rest of his career in the healthcare field caring for the aging and marginalized. Their home was a haven to many college students from Nigeria as they transitioned to living in the US. He was engaged in his community; giving to but not limited to his favorites - St Jude's Hospital and law enforcement. He loves photography and clocks around every corner of the house. He was a vibrant member of the Light of the Morning Star Band, C&S Church Movement Ayo ni O! Surulere, Lagos. We miss him and will always miss his quiet spirit and unfailing love for God and his family.

Pa. Taiwo Akinremi Abodunde died on Thursday December 21st, 2023, in Maplewood, Minnesota at the age of 73 after a brief illness. His legacy will continue to bring beauty and love to those whom he left behind. Pa. Abodunde is survived by his wife Abosede Abodunde, his daughter Adetola and sons Akinfemi, Akinsola, Abiola, (Bamidele Jr. and Moyosore Adetifa), His twin brother Pa.Timothy Kehinde Akinlolu Abodunde, daughters-in-law Dr. Abiola and Brittaney and grandchildren Teniola, Alannah,Toluwanimi, Oluwafemi, Nehemiah, Ooreofeoluwa & Abisolaoluwa; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

With Appreciation - A special thank you to Dr. Olayinka Holt for overseeing his medical care. You were more than a niece. You were a confidant, a doctor, and an advocate. You loved and cared for him as your own father. We are eternally grateful for every additional day you enabled us to have with him.
