January 1979

This image of the First Presbyterian Church made the front page of the Lake Crystal Tribune one week in January of 1979 not only because this beautiful view of the snow-covered church, but because the congregation was celebrating its 90th Anniversary! After the town received over 9 inches of snow, this picture was taken and would be used to advertise the church’s 90th Anniversary celebration on Sunday, January 28th, 1979. It was also paired with an extensive history of the congregation, dating back to 1886 and its early form organization on January 27th, 1889. The celebration included a special 10:30 AM service, social hall lunch, program, and Gymanfa Ganu, a Welsh tradition of singing sacred hymns. 46 years later, the church is now approaching its 136th Anniversary!
