The early church amazed the watching world. Slaves and masters, Jews and Gentiles, worshiping side by side as brothers and sisters. Paul said that in Christ we "are all one" (Galatians 3:28). The same Jesus who crossed the Sea of Galilee to reach two outcasts is still building a family out of people who would never otherwise meet.

Jesus said, "Follow me," and the first place that led the disciples was straight into a storm. The second was Gentile country, a hillside full of pigs where no respectable rabbi would go (Matthew 8:28). Following Jesus has never meant staying comfortable. Sometimes it means a storm. Sometimes it means a table full of people you never expected to love.
