It's been a few weeks since we've shared the Lord’s Supper—so let's change that! ❤️

Join us tomorrow (Sunday, September 6) for Communion, as part of our 10:30am worship service, then we will be back to our regular schedule of celebrating this sacrament on the first Sunday of each month. 🍞🍷

The Presbytery of St. Augustine Youth Team is bringing the Fall Youth Retreat back to Montgomery Center, October 16–18.

This year’s theme is “Just As I Am,” and we’re looking forward to a weekend of worship, community, fun, and time together at camp.

Registration details are coming soon, so for now, get the weekend on your calendar and start gathering your youth group!

A prayer for teachers as children return to school today in our community.

Hackney's prayer for teachers was offered by T.A. Hackney at the Columbia Public Schools Foundation teacher's banquet on November 5, 1998, and published by Lake City Reporter journalist Morris Williams.

“Lord Jesus, when you lived and worked and talked amongst men in Palestine, they called you ‘teacher.’

Help us to remember the greatness of the work that has been given to all teachers. Help them to remember that they work with the most precious material in the world: the mind of a child. Help them always to remember that they are making marks upon that young mind that time will never erase.

Give teachers patience with those who are slow to learn and even those who refuse to learn. When they have to exercise discipline, help them to do so in sternness and yet in love. Help them always to encourage and never to discourage those who are doing their best, even if that best is not very good.

Help teachers to help these children not only to store things in their memories but also to use their minds to think for themselves.

And in the midst of all the worries and the irritation and the frustrations of their jobs, help them to remember that the future of our nation and of the world is in their hands.

We make this prayer in your son’s name. Amen.”
