It is with hearts both heavy and hopeful that we announce Dr. Hugh Skelton, often called the "Father of World Missions," has gone to be with the Lord at age 95.

Dr. Skelton's remarkable journey began when doctors discovered a hole in his heart and predicted an early death. Instead, God had extraordinary plans for him. Over his lifetime, this living miracle traveled to 85 countries spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

His mission work began alongside his beloved wife Louise in Cuba where they established over 20 churches. Their ministry expanded to the Texas-Mexico border and throughout Central and South America, where thousands of churches stand today as testament to their faithful service.

Even into his 90s, Hugh continued mission trips to Honduras and Brazil, often saying, "As long as I have breath, I will keep praising the Lord." His unwavering determination and refusal to surrender became his hallmark.

Today, we can imagine him hearing those precious words from his Savior: "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Dr. Skelton's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the leaders he mentored, and the churches he planted. Though we mourn his earthly absence, we rejoice knowing he has received his heavenly reward.
