When Joseph's brothers are afraid he'll punish them now that Jacob is dead, they beg for mercy. Joseph asks, "Am I in the place of God?" The answer is an obvious, "Yes!" Joseph is in the place of God, and that is exactly why he has mercy on his brothers. Our Savior Jesus, who is God from God, Light from Light, and Very God from Very God, also has mercy on us.

Our Summer Catechesis session has ended. Let us give thanks to God and pray for our candidates for Confirmation as they come into our parish family!

Anyone interested in learning more about Jesus Christ, His Church, and our particular parish family is invited to join us for the winter session! In the meantime, join us for every Sunday Divine Service, Bible Studies, and upcoming Advent and Christmas events!

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means.
There is Choir Rehearsal and Junior Confirmation class at 5pm. After those, we continue our Genesis Bible Study at 6pm. We will see you this evening, friends.

It’s September. It’s still hot outside. And there’s plenty of the liturgical year left. But here is a sneak peek at what’s coming up for our Wednesday evening meditations in Advent, people loved by God.

We will look at the women in Chapter 1 of Matthew’s Gospel. Our Lord incorporated the nations into His people through unlikely figures like Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba. These faithful women are witnesses to His mercy, and he established an ancestral line for the Savior of all peoples with these saints of the Old Testament. That line came all the way down to the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, through whom we are all incorporated into His family.

Jesus loves the little children. He loves them when they're squirmy. He loves them when they're loud in church. He loves them when they "disrupt" the service. Our Gospel reading this weekend gives us joy and comfort in the littlest of Jesus's lambs.
