I am sad to share that our good friend, Barbara Oski Beane died this week. Barbie was a friend and supporter of the chapel and all things Lake Carey for most of her life. She will be missed by all who knew her and remembered for all she did to make this world a better place. Her obituary is below.

Activist, real estate agent, gallery manager, singer and pianist had a zest for life and a passion for protest

Lake Carey Days are almost here and the Lake Carey Union Chapel has a glorious service planned for Sunday, July 26th at 10 a.m. We encourage you to join us for a time of worship, communion, music from the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church Choir, food and fellowship. Leading this special service will be the Rev. Dr. James Skinner who will grace our pulpit for the last time.

Dr. Skinner, (Jim to his many friends) first visited the lake with his soon to be bride, Karen in 1973. They married in 1974 and, as Jim recalls, he has spent time at the lake every year from 1976 to the present.

His first guest preaching at the chapel was a result of Karen's Aunt Clarisse Monsey suggesting to her friend, Mary Bishop, that Jim be invited to preach. Since 1991, Jim has blessed us with his gifts of preaching, encouragement and love.

As Jim moves on to new challenges, our chapel family bids him farewell with hearts of gratitude for his 35 plus years of faithful and loving service.

There is a saying that friendships are for a season, a reason, or a lifetime. Surely Jim has been all of those to us. God bless you Jim.

A time of fellowship on the lawn will follow the service. Gifts of sweet or savory treats are welcome. Please join us.

Lake Carey Day Weekend is filled with lots of fun things to do and one of those fun things is the annual "Walk and Find" activity. Last year, one of the clues led participants to the chapel. Will that be true as well this year? Participate and find out!

This Sunday, July 19th, the chapel is delighted to welcome the Rev. Jon Buxton to our pulpit, and his wife, Dr. Barbara Buxton as our guest solist.

Jon, now retired, served as the pastor of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church until a few years ago. Please join us at 10:a.m., for, what promises to be, a memorable service of word and music.
