Special Guest Maria Kharitonova from the Ukraine Trust Chain
THANK YOU to all who made our Ukraine Benefit Concert a smashing success. We have delivered more than $50,000 to the Ukraine Trust Chain and the dollars are at work helping Ukranians find safe havens.

Ken, Scott & Jen Hall and Fred & Matthew Koch with celebrity guest percussionist Johnny Egan will play this Sunday in a "B.Y.O.U" (bring your own umbrella) on the slight chance there is moisture. Of course, we will have chairs and a half dozen emergency tents set up in case there's more than a few drops! It'll be fun! And Sean preaching "Easter is a Terrible Thing to Waste!" It's gonna be a great service. Join us!

Ukraine Benefit Concert
Saturday, April 16
Lake Bluff (IL) Gazebo 2 to 5 pm.
Music • Food • Beverages

We are busily making plans for the Benefit, set to be held the day before Easter. Right now we are working on everything from fundraising to determining how the Benefit proceeds can have the greatest impact. If you'd like to volunteer email tom @ dickelman.com

If you are interested in providing financial support, please know
(1) 100% of your donation will go to humanitarian aid in Ukraine (2) your gift is tax deductible.

While a gift at any level is appreciated, we are in particular need of family / individual sponsors @ $200 or more and event / business sponsors @ $500 or more. Interested? Email tom @ dickelman.com

A final note. There are a number of factors that will make this event a success. The music (Steve Rashid just told Sean and me that Megon McDonough has agreed to sing!), the weather, how we do financially, etc. But what's REALLY important in addition to everything else is PEOPLE!

Please do all you can to make your friends and neighbors aware of this very special event - Gazebo 2p to 5p "Easter Saturday"

David Brooks' recent article "Is America Falling Apart at the Seams?" inspired Community Church co-pastor, Sean Miller to create a 3-part series in response.

This past Sunday, Feb. 13, Sean spoke about "These cynical times" in a profound way that will lift your spirits. Plus, Steve Rashid and Jim Cox combined to play four instruments and a sundry of songs with a nod to cynicism.

Enjoy! And plan to join us Sunday at 10 am ct in person (masked, pleased) at Lake Forest College's Lily Reid Holt Chapel just south of Deerpath Rd. on Sheridan Rd.

Community Church founder, Tom Dickelman rarely sits in the back row at his own church. He did so this past Sunday and as a person who wasn't involved in the service he somewhat objectively remarked it was one of the most inspiring services he can remember.

Please enjoy the incredible vocals of Sarah Marie Young and Rev. Sean Miller's thought-provoking part one (of three) installment of "In These Times" message, inspired by a recent David Brooks NY Times column on questioning if America is falling apart at the seams.

If you like what you see below, share it with a friend and join us any (or every) Sunday at 10 am ct at Lake Forest College's Lily Reid Holt Chapel just south of Deerpath Road on Sheridan Road in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Looking for a pick-me-up as we enter February? The Community Church has you covered!

One of the country's pre-eminent jazz musicians, Sarah Marie Young, is performing this Sunday, Feb. 6 at 10 am at The Community Church in Lake Forest (IL). Check out her website below and her amazing music videos to get a glimpse of what you'll see up close in an intimate (yet, COVID-safe) environment.

Also, this week kicks off a 3-week series led by Rev. Sean Miller and inspired by New York Times writer, David Brooks, with a series entitled "In These Times", based on his question he recently raised - "Is America falling apart at the seams?"

*Feb. 6 - "In These Angry Times"
*Feb 13 - "In These Cynical Times"
*Feb 20 - "Faith in These Times"

ALL ARE WELCOME!

Last Sunday, Sean Miller's sermon inspired the brave souls who battled rough weather to attend. Take some time, enjoy David Hawkins beautiful acoustic music and take in a thought-provoking message that may provide an epiphany or two.

And, if you like what you see, you are welcome to join us this Sunday (and every Sunday) at Lily Reid Holt Chapel on Lake Forest College's campus at 10 am.

Community Church - Longest Night Service & Beach Bonfire!
Tuesday, Dec. 21
Gorton Center - Downtown Lake Forest, IL
Stuart Room
7:00 p.m.

The holidays can be a time when many find ourselves in need of reassurance and comfort. Perhaps we are grieving over the loss of a friend or loved one, struggling with illness or have experienced the loss of a job. These feelings are in conflict with the celebratory nature of the season, and we may wonder how we will get through the festivities.

Those seeking comfort and hope, wholeness and renewal, please join us on the longest night of the year for quiet reflection, readings from books of meditations and poetry, and music. We'll be in the Stuart Room at Gorton - led by Sean, Tom, Lydia Backer, Ken Hall and vocalist Caitlin McKechney - at 7:00 p.m. on 12.21 for what has become a meaningful Community Church Holiday tradition.

Bonus Bonfire @ the Beach
Following the service, which will be less than an hour, everyone is invited to a bonfire Lake Forest Beach. Hope to see you!
