Perfectionism is the enemy of a positive self-image. It is one way we armor ourselves to protect against the uncomfortable feeling of vulnerability. But in the end, it just causes us more stress.

When we link our self-worth to our work product, successes, and failures, we can fall into the trap of perfectionism.

Leaders often believe they are supposed to know everything and produce perfect work products all the time. Leaders who learn to be vulnerable and accept their imperfections walk a path that shows those they lead it is ok to be imperfect. This helps create psychological safety in the workplace and can reduce everyone's stress.

No matter what is our experience at the moment we still can be in love with life, the life that we are not the circumstances we have.

Sometimes music will ease our sorrow and sometimes it celebrates our success, but always music touches us at a personal level

Linger over moments that create within you a sense of being fully alive.

Acknowledge, daily, what you love about your life.

Understand that we are all doing the best we know how to do, at the time.

Give other people a reason to feel gratitude.
Have a “Happy Moments” list which you can read for a lift.

These are challenging times for all of us. After yesterdays events in Washington D. C. my friend Rev. John Moreland from Light on the Mountain Center for Spiritual Living wrote these words.
A Call to Prayer
We are all in a state of shock as we attempt to make sense of the occurrences of the last twenty-four hours. I, along with all of you, watched yesterday while domestic insurgents stormed our capitol building with the intention of inflicting harm on our seat of government. The positive outcome of yesterday was that our democracy held and that Congress fulfilled their duty as elected officers of our nation. Our government officials have many crucial and immediate decisions to make to further guarantee the viability of our republic. The question, though, is what can we each do during this critical period?
The first and foremost thing we can do is pray. When I think of prayer, I don’t think of the type of prayer that invokes a deity or power outside of us. The call of prayer that I have in mind is the one that has an understanding that a prayer can only change the one who is doing the praying. This type of prayer is one where we can intentionally connect with each other to affect a collective transformation. There is great power available to us all when we unite in consciousness for the betterment of all.
What will I pray for today? I will pray for my personal courage knowing that each of us is being called to stand up for Truth and integrity. I will pray that as I walk this path I will release all fear and anxiety. My prayers will also acknowledge that regardless of appearances, the presence of the Divine exists at the center of all things. I believe that the recognition of this Truth opens the door to the miraculous. I will also pray for Divine Right Action. This affirmation understands that as a human consciousness, I don’t have all the answers and that I can “Let go and let God” as I trust I will personally be led to make decisions that support all of our highest good.
We have a great deal of work to do as a nation but know that the direction of that work begins with the seeds we plant in our thoughts, beliefs and prayers. I invite you to join me in prayer today and each day after as we realize a greater possibility and Truth for our nation.
Blessings,
Rev. John

In these uncertain times we are asked to 'self isolate' and 'shelter in place' Our words are powerful. Let's do as we are asked to do but change our words. Instead of self isolating let's say, "I am flattening the curve with my actions." Let's also remember to Shelter in the place of hope and peace; shelter in the place of life and beauty. Let's shelter in place for all who cannot. Let's shine our light to illuminate the way to health and happiness for all
