In Solidarity with the Taiwanese Presbyterian Church

We are deeply pained and saddened by the senseless act of violence that took place in our city this afternoon. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire community, especially the victims and their families, and we stand ready to provide them with any support they need.

While we are shocked and shaken by everything that has happened, we are also grateful to the swift action of the worshippers for their heroic efforts in helping to save the lives of so many, as well as police and all of the first responders.

The Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, taught of the need to turn tears into action. Let us take courage from the age-old Jewish adage “a little bit of light will dispel a great deal of darkness”. It is an indisputable reality: when light and goodness encounter darkness and hate, light and goodness will—without fail—prevail.

Let us pray fervently for the complete and speedy recovery of the injured and those affected by this heinous act! May we merit the ultimate peace with the coming of Moshiach!

Throughout the pandemic and all the tumultuous months, 2020 had to offer, Chabad of Aliso Viejo & Laguna Woods has been an essential safe haven for the community. We made it our mission to focus on responding with critical support when community members felt discouraged, worried, or lonely. From shopping for seniors or those who are home-bound to opening a food pantry, from offering virtual classes, programs, Zoom pre-Shabbat services, to establishing the Jewish Lifeline to create friendship, Chabad has strived to be there to service the needs of members of the community.
