Today, Pastor Bob’s message from Acts 9:31 reminded us how the church grew stronger as believers walked in reverence for God and the encouragement of the Holy Spirit.

That encouragement—paraklesis—carries a deeper meaning than simply making someone feel better. It includes consolation that comforts us in suffering and exhortation that urges us to keep following Jesus. Alongside that encouragement, we sometimes need admonition: loving guidance that helps us recognize when we need to change direction.

Sometimes we need comfort. Sometimes we need courage to take the next step. Sometimes we need a loving reminder to return our focus to God.

As we shared communion, we remembered Jesus’ suffering, His sacrifice, and the hope we have through Him. The bread and the cup invite us to remember His love, examine our hearts, and renew our commitment to follow Him.

Acts 9:31 brings those things together: a church honoring God, strengthened by the Holy Spirit, and growing in faith and number.

May we carry that into this week; comforting those who hurt, encouraging those who are weary, and lovingly helping one another grow closer to Jesus.

Lafayette garage sales will be on Thursday and Friday. Lafayette Methodist will have theirs in the church basement and will open on Wednesday, the 23rd. Entrance is at the rear of the church and there are no stairs.
There will be food for breakfast and lunch at the Methodist church and sale starting Wednesday! Buckland Bistro will be at the park on Thursday plus sales in the building! Sales all over town and a few in the country! Maps will be posted asap.

What does it look like to reach our hands toward the Lord? Pastor Bob reminded us this morning that it’s much like a child reaching up to his father; a picture of trust, dependence, and a desire to be close to Him.

As we grow in our faith, we are called to build up the church, not just individually, but together. Change can be scary, but sometimes change is necessary for growth. Through every change, we can choose peace, knowing that God is with us.

The question is: “How bad do you want to be built up?”

Building up the church takes intentionality, love, and a willingness to grow together. When we are united in faith, encouraging one another and walking in love, we become stronger together.

Let’s continue to reach toward our Father, grow in faith, love one another, and build each other up. We are better together when we are united in Christ. 🙌❤️

What we’re suffering now isn’t even comparable to what’s coming. 🙌

Today’s message, “To Live Is Christ; To Die Is Gain,” was a powerful reminder that following Jesus doesn’t mean life will be free from trials. Scripture tells us there will be hard seasons, but it also reminds us that those seasons do not get the final word.

Romans 8:18 tells us that our present suffering cannot compare with the glory that is coming.

And it leaves us with a challenging question:

What are you willing to suffer through for your faith?

In parts of the world, Christians face persecution, imprisonment, and even death for openly following Jesus. Yet they continue to choose Him.

Our trials may look different, but the call remains the same: keep going, keep trusting, and keep your eyes on Jesus.

God can use the hard seasons to build perseverance, strengthen our character, deepen our faith, and produce hope.

The suffering is temporary. The promise is eternal.

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” — Philippians 1:21

Today, we gathered around the Lord’s Table in communion, remembering the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for each of us.

Through Pastor Bob’s message, we were reminded that transformation begins with the questions we ask. Last week, we reflected on Saul’s question:

“Who are You, Lord?” Acts 9:5

Today, we were challenged to keep asking just like Saul:

“What shall I do, Lord?” Acts 22:10

One of the biggest takeaways from today’s message was this: Stop disqualifying yourself.

God has never called perfect people. He calls willing people. If He’s calling you, He already knows your past, your weaknesses, and your doubts. Don’t let fear convince you that you’re not enough when God says you are called for a purpose.

As we begin a new week, may we continue asking the right questions, listening for His voice, and responding with willing hearts.

This morning through Pastor Bob’s message, “Learning to Ask the Right Questions,” we were reminded that God can use a single question to change the course of a life, just as He did with Saul.

“Who are You, Lord?” Acts 9:5

May we continue seeking Him, listening for His voice, and allowing Him to transform our hearts.

As you go into this week, ask the same question Saul did: “Who are You, Lord?” You may be surprised by how God reveals Himself when we seek Him with an open heart.
