“God Chooses You” - Romans 9

Attached is Pastor Nannette’s introduction to today’s message. A message that comes from the letter than Paul, a former persecutor of Christians and loyal Jew, wrote to the Jewish and Gentile Christians in Rome. It’s a letter that Paul could have written to the church today. In this portion of the letter, Paul addresses the difference between being “descendants/children of flesh” and being “chosen/children of promise”. It would have been heartbreaking for Paul to write these words because his own people have not experienced salvation.

What a beautiful morning to wake up to! God’s masterpiece of creation is breathtaking, awesome, stunning, captivating … a reminder of how much He loves us and the grace He pours out on us everyday.

Grace is undeserved free gift from God - it is forgiveness of the wrong things we have done or said; it is is the source of the promise of eternal life in a place where there is no pain, sorrow, disappointment - a place where love abounds.

God’s grace is a gift for all people, a gift that carries us through eternity. It is a gift that is possible because Jesus came to earth and died for our sins, rise from the dead, and is now in Heaven with God, speaking to Him about this gift of grace He extends to us.

Pastor Nannette’s message today is about God grace and is titled “How Much More!” with scripture references from Romans 5 and references from JD Walt’s book. ROMANS, FROM SIN MANAGEMENT TO LOVE UNLEASHED.

Have you ever stepped into a swamp had your foot get stuck in the mud and when you tried to pull it out it begin to sink further into the mud? The only way you can get out is to have someone lend you a helping hand. Like being in the swamp mud, you can only get out if someone helps you. That’s exactly what Jesus does. He extends His hand of grace, mercy, forgiveness and love and pulls you to safety.

Sin can be like that. We can suddenly find ourselves stepping into it and as we try to step out of it, we begin to sink further into it.
