Temple Isaiah - Your Jewish Neighborhood

Temple Isaiah - Your Jewish Neighborhood Temple Isaiah is more than a synagogue – it’s Your Jewish Neighborhood! Welcome. We know there is a place for you in our community—join us!

As the oldest and largest synagogue in Contra Costa County, our roots lie deep in a uniquely Californian, vibrant approach to Jewish tradition and innovation. We embrace all who come through our doors with warmth and caring, with an openness to diversity and a commitment to the dignity of each person in our midst. We use our hearts, minds and hands to fulfill in modern times the ancient prophetic

call to social justice. Temple Isaiah is a Jewish Neighborhood of spirituality and study, a place filled with God’s spirit and human kindness.

We are sharing an invitation from Rabbi Sydney Mintz and 13th Tribe, offering two immersive Jewish wilderness and spirituality retreats in Haines, Alaska. The women’s retreat runs June 24-28, and a retreat for all folks runs July 8-12. Each is a five-day, four-night experience centered around Shabbat, kayaking, learning, music, yoga, hiking, foraging, glaciers, salmon, massage, and meaningful community at the Chilkat Inlet Retreat Center. These are two great options for Jewish retreats in Alaska.

More than 100 women gathered last Thursday at Temple Isaiah for our Women’s Seder. This intergenerational evening was filled with delicious food, laughter, dancing, and a strong sense of community. Led by Rabbis Greninger and Miller, it was truly a night to remember.

Tonight, we gather again for our community-wide Passover Seder. Passover services will take place tomorrow morning and next Wednesday, April 8 at 9am in the Beit Knesset and on YouTube. These meaningful moments are made possible by each and every one of you.

Chag Pesach kasher v’same’ach.

Yesterday evening, our community gathered at Temple Isaiah to learn about the immigration court system and recent changes to U.S. immigration policy, and walked away with a deeper sense of purpose in supporting our immigrant neighbors. We are so grateful to Ali Saidi and Judge Polly Webber for sharing their decades of experience and invite you to connect with our ViA team to take meaningful action together.

On Sunday, Temple Isaiah members, friends, and family gathered for Women of Isaiah’s annual YES Fund fundraiser, Steep It Up!, for a truly memorable afternoon. Guests enjoyed tea and treats, meaningful connection, and the opportunity to learn about the lasting impact of Women of Reform Judaism’s YES Fund.

For decades, Women of Isaiah has proudly supported this work, with Past Presidents and dedicated supporters sponsoring this special event each year to raise both awareness and funds.
