"Requiescat In Pace" is a Latin Catholic blessing that means “may he begin to rest in peace". The phrase "Requiescat in Pace" began to be found on tombstones around the eighth century, and it was commonplace on Christian tombs by the eighteenth century. It was seen as a request that the soul of a deceased individual would find peace in the afterlife."

PRAYER OF ST. JOHN XXIII FOR THE FATHERS

St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste husband of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of duty. You supported the holy family of Nazareth with the work of your hands. Kindly protect all the fathers who trustingly come to you. You know their aspirations, their hardships, their hopes. They look to you because they know you will understand and protect them. You too knew trial, labor and weariness. But amid the worries of material life your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy through intimacy with God’s Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labor alone. Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over him faithfully as you have done.

There is, after all, a tangible spiritual enrichment achieved through the art of expressing care and thoughtfulness towards those who have died in our lives. We feel more connected to the solid aspects of what it is to be human and to be a part of a greater community that spans generations and centuries.

"Our Father Who Art In Heaven..." as we approach Father's Day, let us call to mind all Fathers and remember the unspoken presence and struggle required of this role. Let us also pray for any of us who have become distanced from their Father, who have lost their Father, or who don't have the Father they hope for...

Families experience Queen of Heaven in the most unique ways. Here Inzerra (http://ow.ly/WLog50zZ4vO) visits his friend Collin in our Holy Family Fountain section, creating and composing hip-hop beats with a mobile sampling mixer and headphones while receiving inspiration from all of God's creations. How do you experience Queen of Heaven?

Most wonderful St. Luke
you are animated by
the Heavenly Spirit of Love.
In faithfully detailing
the humanity of Jesus,
you also showed His Divinity
and His genuine compassion
for all human beings.

May the Holy Spirit,
instructor of the faithful,
help me to understand
Christ’s words
and faithfully apply them
in my life.
Amen.
