Alice Pearl McGee, 64, of Shipshewana, passed away on Monday, January 13, at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born on June 10, 1960, in Berrien County, MI, to Jack and Pearl (Bahus) Wieand. On December 31, 1997, in Elkhart, she married Michael McGee, he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are daughter, Rebekah Smith and her grandson, Malaki Smith; five stepchildren, Anne, Christine, Wendy, Jim, and Paul; many grandchildren and others who considered her grandma; mother and stepfather, Pearl and Jim Benton; two sisters, Christine and Debra; two brothers, Charles and Jimmy. She was preceded in death by her father and son-in-law, Walter Smith. Alice was a graduate of Watervliet High School in Michigan. Together, Mike and Alice shared 27 years of marriage. Alice had a fun and loving personality.
She was involved in the 8 Mile Christian Camp located in Lafayette for over ten years. She was a devoted member of the Calvary Temple Pentecostal Church in Angola where she volunteered her time within the children’s ministry. Alice previously served with Pentecostal Churches of God in Mishawaka and Bedford (Charity Chapel).
Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am on Monday, January 20, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation beginning at 11:00 am also at the funeral home. Services will be conducted by Pastor Larry Williams. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
Memorials may be given in Alice’s memory to the 8 Mile Christian Camp, Lafayette.
