In this homily The Rev. Dr. James E. Taylor, Rector of St.George Episcopal Church, discusses the day’s Gospel. He explains that Peter could not understand why Jesus would have to suffer and die on the cross and then be resurrected for our sins. Peter was standing in Jesus’ path – focused on human not divine things. Jesus’ words to Peter and the disciples to pick up their crosses and follow Him call each of us to change the direction of our lives. We should yield to God’s will instead of resisting Him.

In this homily The Rev. Dr. James E. Taylor discusses the Gospel for the day and what it means for our daily lives. Fr. Jim says that when we panic, we make unwise and rushed decisions and that we think God doesn’t care. However, Jesus does not abandon us in the midst of the storms of our lives. Jesus challenges us to face our fears and have faith to know that we will survive. No storm in our life is too great for God.

In this homily The Rev. Dr. James E. Taylor, Rector of St.George Episcopal Church, discusses the meaning of the parable of the weeds in today’s Gospel. He says that weeds are a reality of life. Weeds serve as a distraction and keep us from growing our faith. Through this parable Jesus is offering guidance on how to live in a complex world. God is about loving others and that should be what we are about also. To live in optimism and hope is to live the life of the Holy Spirit.
