Shabbat Shalom!!

12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.

13 Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:

14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

The tradition of the Lord’s Supper or Communion was established on the night of Yeshua’s (Jesus’) betrayal. There has been speculation for centuries as to whether or not the “Last Supper” was a Passover Feast. This teaching is not focused on that debate, but assumes it was, given that the majority of the Gospel accounts seem to suggest it was. The idea that it was a Passover Feast has led some to believe that our Messiah was not suggesting that disciples begin a new tradition, but rather, that they continue to celebrate Passover with a new understanding of its importance and symbolism.

My position is not to argue one perspective over another, but to shed light on the deeper meaning behind the elements and the tradition. The scriptures have provided much that can be tied to the tradition. We are told to do these things in remembrance of Him. There is much more to it than just remembering Him. We remember His sacrifice and the price He paid for the remission of the sins of the world. We also remember that His blood ratified the New Covenant. We should also keep in mind what is promised to us in the New Covenant, as well as to whom the promises were actually made.

Many people don’t take the time to really contemplate these things deeply, often because it has never been taught to them. However, our desire to draw and be drawn closer to God should inspire us to dig into His Word and study every aspect of Him and His plan of redemption. We should hold this tradition in high regard and not partake of it in an unworthy manner. That said, we need to take caution not to assign too much importance as to suggest that the practice of this tradition literally provides us with eternal life. It should remind us of what actually does provide us with eternal life, but the bread and the wine are not the actual body and blood of our Messiah. Furthermore, when we read His words as He spoke of these things, He never suggested we literally need to eat His physical flesh or drink His physical blood. This would be in direct contrast to the Holy Standards that God delivered to His people. In this teaching, we will go through the connections that reveal the deeper meaning behind this symbolism. I pray that this message will bless anyone who has ears to hear and a heart to please God. I also hope it provides a deeper understanding of the tradition and why we keep it, along with bringing rich blessings to those who partake of it worthily.

Shabbat Shalom!!

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Shabbat Shalom!!

13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.
14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

Shabbat Shalom!!

26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

28 And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord GOD, when the LORD hath not spoken.
