Who Am I?

The world can be a cold and dark place, in which many people have no sense of belonging, no future, and no hope. They do not know what to cling too when they are on their bended knees praying for someone, or something, to help them. They can only see the dark road in front of them, the pain in their eyes, and the brokenness of their soul. They have lost all sense of direction and feel they have no home. That is where He enters.

I have traveled many roads, walked miles in many shoes, and seen with my own eyes the many struggles we all face day to day from all aspects of life. I have watched families torn apart by drugs and abuse, children lost to a dark void never to recover, mental illness spiral out of control, internal pain become external torture, lives lost too soon, and souls, the very essence of a person’s existence, be void of light. I cannot allow it to happen anymore for He calls me to be more.

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and the light of the world (John 8:12 [12] Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”) It is He who holds the world in His hands ( Matthew 10:29-31 [29] Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. [30] But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. [31] Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.) It is He who has called me out of this world (John 15:19 [19] If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.) I cannot serve two masters, for I serve only the Spirit, and not the Earth (Matthew 6:24 [24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.)

We are called to love unconditionally (Jeramiah 31:3 [3] The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.) and with this unconditional love comes compassion and empathy (1 Peter 3:8-9 [8] Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, courteous: [9] not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.) I have compassion for all of my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ (Ephesians 4:32 [32] and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.) for we were created in His image and are children of God (Genesis 1:27 [27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.) I utilize the Golden Rule as given to us by Jesus Christ in His Semon on the Mount speech for what is a man’s character but a reflection of his inner self? (Matthew 7:12 [12] Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.)

I forgive everyone and can help teach those how to forgive based on God’s word (Mathew 6:14-15 [14] For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: [15] but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.) While it can be hard to forgive those who have hurt us deeply, to forgive is divine, for it is the Father that forgives us of all our trespasses and forgets the sins thereof (Jeremiah 31:34 [34] And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD : for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the : for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.)

This path is not always the easiest and it can be difficult for some to understand everything I believe and do for others. Sometimes it feels as if the world hates because they do not comprehend the pure heart of a true Christian ( John 15:18 [18] If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.) I feel as though God has called me by name and told me to follow this path just as He redeemed Israel in the Old Testament and was by their side the entire time, so too is He redeeming me and staying by my side (Isaiah 43:1 [1] But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.) I recall a passage from Isaiah when God is asking of whom shall He send on His behalf and Isaiah tells God to use him (Isaiah 6:8 [8] Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.)

I have placed my cross at the foot of Jesus’ cross to bear it for me, for He has already barred the weight of the world on his shoulders, and when we are in need we are to come to Christ and let Him lift us up (1 Peter 5:7 [7] casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.) For greater is His spirit that dwelleth in us than in the world (1 John 4:4 [4] Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.)

I understand the struggles we face today and by the grace of God I am still here to testify in his name. When was the last time someone told you they loved you, were proud of you, said they cared about you, said you were perfect because you were made perfect, actually wanted to help you for the better, genuinely cared about your future? Some people do not have an advocate in the world, and in these situations, I believe God is calling me to be their advocate and His mouthpiece. The main purpose to all of this is not to save the body, for the body perishes and will return to the dust as it were, but to save the most precious things God has given us, our souls (Ecclesiastes 12:7 [7] Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.) We will live eternally in paradise one day, and to hopefully save a soul, that is worth all the trouble this can cause. He is calling me to help find his lost sheep and return them to the Father (Luke 15:7 [7] I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.)

I complete many of my good works in silence and require nothing in return. I do not boast or brag about the good I have done because we are to keep our good deeds in secrete so that only the Father may know, for our reward is not of this Earth (Matthew 6:5-6 [5] And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. [6] But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.) You will see the pureness of my faith in the fruit of my labor, I promise you. I will be judged by the fruits of my labor and by my Father in heaven whom all things come (Matthew 7:17-20 [17] Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. [18] A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. [19] Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. [20] Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.)

I give unconditionally to all those who are in need and my Father in heaven will provide for me. Fear not, for the lord will provide (Matthew 6:25-26 [25] Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? [26] Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?) I will not pass up any who are in need of drink, food, clothes, visitation, help, assistance, or need of the word of God for we are called to not pass them up, or we suffer the consequences of passing up Christ Himself (Matthew 25:41-46 [41] Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: [42] for I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: [43] I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. [44] Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? [45] Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. [46] And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.)

I do nothing in this world, but I do the will of my father in heaven (Matthew 7:21 [21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.) He is the one who tells me where to go and what to do, the Holy Spirit guides me, and I live my life like His son Jesus Christ. We must be Christ-like if we are to find peace within ourselves and enrich ourselves and harmonize our lives (Philippians 4:6-7 [6] Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. [7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.) I give charitable to all as much as I can for we are called to give more than we receive (‭‭Acts 20:35 [35] I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.) I would spend all my time and money into giving to others than spend it on myself, for I will have my reward one day when I am called home.

We are told to go forth and prophesy in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19 [19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:) I cling to the cross of my savior and find rest unto my soul when I lay my head in his lap (Matthew 11:28-30 [28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.)

My entire purpose in life is to live my life as Christ-like as possible, and one day, when my body is laid to rest, and I stand before the throne of my God in judgement, I do not hear the words depart from me (Matthew 7:23 [23] And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.) and instead hear the words well done good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:23 [23] His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.) well done.

I do not fear what my path lies that is ahead of me for my God is with me always (Isaiah 41:10 [10] Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.) He will protect me and stand at my side just as he did in the fiery furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Daniel in the lion’s den, David in the face of Goliath, Jonah in the belly of the great fish, and so many other countless times before. I am safe in my Lord’s arms for he protects me, and no weapon formed against Him or His servants shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17 [17] No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD , and their righteousness of me, saith the LORD.)

For my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ died on that cross, the day love ran red, and His blood washes over me and covers me from head to toe, for He was sent by the Father to die for us (John 3:16 [16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.) I cling to the foot of His cross for I am a sinner and in need of a redeemer (Romans 3:23-25 [23] for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; [24] being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: [25] whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God) He will protect me through all the days of my life and I shall fear no more. (Psalm 23:1-4 [1] The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. [2] He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. [3] He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. [4] Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.)

Luke 14:27 [27] And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Matthew 10:38 [38] And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

Luke 9:23 [23] And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Mark 8:34 [34] And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

Many times in the Bible Jesus talks to his disciples and those listening and tells them to carry and bear their cross just as Jesus would carry His cross. The only difference is, our crosses are light, compared to the heavy weight of Jesus' cross, which carried the weight of all mankind's sins. This cross we bear comes in many different shapes and forms and is usually already on our shoulders before we even come to Jesus. More specifically, this cross can become what we perceive as a burden to others. One of the most painful feelings is to watch as you bear your cross, and your family and friends fade out of sight.

But what is your actual cross to bear? Well, what sins do you face every day in life and struggle to overcome? Do you lie constantly, do you lust after others all the time, do you envy others, do you honor your father and mother, do you place God before all others? Our sins we fight daily is our cross to bare. Jesus never said this would be easy, in fact, baring our cross means to suffer. It means everyday will be a struggle, but if we pick up our cross, bare it, look forward, and place Jesus first and live our lives in accordance to his will, then it will be worth it in the end when our cross is lifted off our shoulders by the Lord himself and tossed to the side when he welcomes us into paradise.

We have become so full of the world, we forget we are supposed to be living for the spirit. When we start to follow the spirit all of our worldly possessions become meaningless and we strive for Christ for we are to be called out of this world, because we are not of the world. This can become difficult when you start to have those difficult conversations with your family and friends who are still focused on the world.

You might have parents ask why you are becoming so religious, or why you feel the need to bring up Christ or God at dinner, or in casual conversations. Your friends will wonder why you only listen to Christian music and find the songs you used to listen too degrading and in poor taste with God. You will be shunned by many of your peers, and your circle will dwindle down to almost nothing at times. It will be difficult, and it will be a cold time for a little bit, but we place our trust in Christ, and know he has great things planned for us.

Eventually your circles become larger and more impactful when you find those people who want to center their life around Christ instead of worldly possessions. Life becomes more fruitful and there is meaning in everything.

This does not say you must stop being friends with everyone who is not Christ-centered. In fact, this means the opposite. If they are okay with it, you stay friends with them and you continue to live your life in the way Christ would be proud. When your friends/family slip up and use the Lord's name in vain, give them that look, or when they gossip and talk about others negatively, remind them of John 8:7 [7] So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. Just as Jesus sat with sinners and vagabonds, so do we in our lives because all are welcome at His table, and all are welcome at ours.

John 15:19 - If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

John 18:36 [36] Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Romans 12:2 [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1 John 2:15 [15] Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

John 17:14 [14] I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

John 8:23 [23] And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

John 17:16 [16] They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
