Giving Hope Retreat

Giving Hope Retreat Giving Hope Retreat in Lacombe, LA is a men's discipleship ministry training program that is part of the New Orleans Mission.

Through Jesus Christ we are changing lives every single day. Giving Hope Retreat consists of a one year Discipleship Program. The first two months of the program are designed to start with Project Hope at the New Orleans Mission.During their time in Project Hope, we have hopes that each program member enters into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ if they have not done so before entering in

to the program. For those who already have a relationship with Jesus and have strayed away, we strive to lead them back into restored fellowship with Jesus. For both renewed and new believers we then move them toward teaching each individual how to maintain and grow in their fellowship with Jesus. All that we do is centered around Jesus. Through the work of Jesus in their lives, we seek to aid in their development of Christian values and positive life skills, and educate, edify, and empower them for transitioning back into society as wholesome, disciplined followers of Christ. As a whole, the Discipleship Program is designed to rescue the hurting and encourage the new life in Jesus Christ through efforts of the participants, and support a successful re-engagement into society, living in freedom for our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. All the needs are met for them including physical needs as well as spiritual at Giving Hope Retreat.

Our Mission Pantry is often the first place a family turns when they don’t know where else to go. 🥘

Each week, we see parents doing everything they can to put food on the table—and sometimes, it still isn’t enough.

Just $25 helps provide groceries for a family for an entire week.

That’s meals on the table. That’s relief in a stressful moment. That’s hope when it’s needed most. Help us keep our pantry stocked, and families fed: https://givebutter.com/giving-hope-retreat-mission-pantry-zgmqth

At Giving Hope Retreat, we believe restoration is about more than meeting immediate needs—it’s about equipping men with the tools to build a new life.

One of the most powerful ways that happens is through education, life skills, and spiritual growth.

We are currently looking for volunteers willing to teach classes and pour into the men in our program—covering topics like job readiness, budgeting, resume building, parenting, life skills, and spiritual development and discipleship.

If you’re interested in volunteering or teaching a class, we would love to connect with you: https://neworleansmission.org/volunteer-form

This summer, the need across St. Tammy's Parish is growing!🍉

As school lets out, many families lose access to the meals and support systems their children rely on each day. We are already seeing an increase in families turning to our Mission Pantry for food.

Behind every visit is a parent doing their best, and a child who still needs to be fed, cared for, and supported. We are committed to standing in that gap—but we cannot do it alone.

Your support helps us keep our pantry stocked and continue providing meals for families in crisis throughout the summer months.

Consider making a gift today to help meet this growing need: https://givebutter.com/feed-hope-this-summer-nom-cojg3c

This Testimony Tuesday, we’re sharing Leroy’s story.🩶

After struggling with depression and deep sadness, Leroy’s world was shattered when he lost both of his parents in a tragic home invasion. Grief consumed him, and over time, he found himself on the streets—carrying pain no one should ever have to walk through alone.

But his story didn’t end there.

Through support and restoration at Giving Hope Retreat, Leroy began the slow journey of healing—finding stability, community, and hope again.

This Memorial Day, we honor the men who gave their lives in service to our country—and we remember the brothers who never made it home. 🇺🇸

Across all our campuses, we also hold space for the men who returned home but continue carrying invisible battles long after their service ended.

In 2025, across our campuses, we served 148 military members—and right now, 19 are actively in our programs—receiving care, stability, and a path toward healing and restoration.

Behind every number is a man fighting for peace, purpose, and healing after war.

Today is not only about remembrance—it’s about responsibility. To stand beside those who once stood for all of us. May we honor sacrifice not only with gratitude, but by continuing the work of restoration.

These aren’t just men sitting in chapel—these are men rebuilding their lives. ⛪

Every Bible opened, every note written, every prayer prayed is part of someone choosing recovery, purpose, and a new future.

Right now, we need more Bibles, journals, notebooks, and stationary for the men in our program as more people continue coming through our doors.

A small gift can place hope directly into the hands of a man fighting for a second chance. Help us continue investing in restoration: https://givebutter.com/giving-hope-retreat-mission-pantry-zgmqth

Progress is happening at Giving Hope Retreat 🔨

Our team is hard at work renovating the dining hall and continuing improvements across campus to create a better space for the men we serve every day. From construction projects to facility upgrades, every detail matters — and every project takes support from people who believe in the mission.

If you want to help us keep building and improving our campus, now is the time to jump in.

They may be unloading trucks… but they’re rebuilding lives.🛻

At Giving Hope Retreat, our men are learning what it means to work hard, serve others, and become providers again. Every pallet unloaded helps stock our mission pantry and feed families across St. Tammany Parish.

This is restoration in action — men finding purpose through responsibility, discipleship, and the love of Christ.

When you give, you help put food on tables and hope back into our community.

Gary’s story is a reminder of the Gospel itself — that Jesus still rescues, restores, and redeems broken lives.

There was a time addiction tried to define his story. But God had the final word.

Because people chose to give, Gary was met with hope, recovery, discipleship, and the love of Christ when he needed it most.

This is more than a donation.
This is ministry.
This is lives being changed for eternity.
